Hi, Everybody
Jeanne--I had to laugh at your concern about having the same clothes on in the same pictures...I found to my horror while looking at pictures from past cruises that I was wearing the same tropical fish outfit ALL THREE TIMES we were in Nassau! I am officially retiring that outfit from Disney Cruises.
Does anyone else have a "Cruise/Vacation drawer" or suitcase that they stash stuff for upcoming trips into? My habit of doing this started when I was little and my family would go on the annual drive from NY to Florida (very pre-Disney) We went to Daytona Beach and St. Augustine and Ocala (for my horse fix). Then, the big attractions were Weeki Watchi and Rainbow Springs, Six Gun Territory, Silver Springs, Monkey Jungle, Parrot Jungle, Marineland...wow...anyone else a veteran of "old Florida circa 1972 BD? (Before Disney) Anyhow, weeks before the annual pilgrimage my mom would start buying me and my two older sisters new clothes and sneakers and socks and coloring books and they'd all go into our respective "vacation drawer". That way, on every day of our trip we'd have new outfits and hair ribbons and socks! That my dad would take Super8 movies of us wearing! I STILL have a "vacation drawer" which now has some cruise clothes and jewelry and a hat/tote bag in it for our October Magic trip. I think it helps crank up the anticipation enjoyment to admire and fondle those new things, still with tags on, before all the Bahama Mama spills get on them and the tote bag gets full of sand!
It is not long at all now...we got super cheapola tickets on ATA from Chicago Midway. In our Tribune this morning, Spirit was advertising $39 each way tix to Orlando. Catch is you have to fly down on a Thursday and back on a Monday, and my husband started a job recently that is like a POW camp. No days off until the cruise in October. He's looking for something better, since his boss is exactly like the mean boss in the movie "Gung Ho," just without the eventual self-realization of his de-humanizing practices and repentance. He thinks John should take away his team's chairs because they will be more "efficient" if they have to stand up. Crikey.
It is miserably hot here in Chicagoland today, so I'm going to hide out somewhere cool with my 8yo son. My 11 yo daughter is at camp touring
Walmart freezers at night and wearing towel turbans to meals. This camp has an "Owl" group that runs around all night and sleeps during the day. I can see pictures of her on the camp website, eating ice cream in Walmart's freezer at around 3 a.m. All I ever did at camp was make lanyards and compare mosquito bites.
Have a great day, everybody.
