Roll call for 10/29/09 3 night Bahamian - General chit chat

disney crazy your counted in LOL ohhhhh your on deck 2 do you have an inside cABIN ??? youll love it down there we were in 2519 my last cruise and we were inside cabin cat 12 WAY GOOD very quiet floor and no motion at all and the nicest thing was no split bath .... i have had a room either way and i PERSONALLY prefer a room with 1 bathroom it is better bec you get more cabin space that way ... just my thoughts
ok so now im loking at a dec cruise too LOL maybe for 2010 ?
im excited looking now !!!

We've got an outside cabin, mid-ship. It does still have the split bathroom - which we love (so more than one person can be getting ready at a time). We've done cabins on different decks, but keep coming back to deck 2 - the motion is better, it is quieter, and best of all - it's cheaper!

We got back home last night. We stayed at Congress Park in Saratoga Springs this trip. We were directly across the lake from DTD.
I will have to admit I never expected WDW to be that crowded. We had four day tickets. On the first day we went to EPCOT. It was crowded but not that bad. We did World Show Case. We had never spent the whole day doing that and wanted to take our time. We did not ride many rides but that was somewhat the plan anyhow. On day two we went to MK. We have been to WDW at different times through the years. But this was our first and probably our last Christmas time trip. MK was so packed that traffic was routed away from Main Street and back and around through a cast member parking area to Future World. Wait times for rides averaged 90 plus minutes. I am literally talking shoulder to shoulder just about everywhere that we went.
We made the decision to add the NO Expiration option to the two remaining days on our tickets and to plan to return the week of our cruise.
We did enjoy the lights and decorations and spent the remainder of our time checking out resorts that we plan to stay at on future visits and of course shopping at DT. If you have never been to AK Lodge I think that it is a must see. The Polynesian is very nice as well.

Happy New Year!!!

is anyone staying at the all stars hotel ? if yes we can book a town car or limmo for cheaper than you get the disney bus to the port... if anyone is interested let me know i havent booked a room yet but i know it will most likely be at an all stars or pop century

We're at Pop, at the moment we have the DCL transfers booked, but there's only 2 of us, so I doubt at the moment it would work out any cheaper, might need a couple more bods to make it worthwhile....

Our fish extender arrived from the ebay lady some time ago, I keep meaning to take a picture for you all to see.......

im thinking about booking pop too SO let me see what i can find and let you know if it works out and we can get it for a really good rate cheaper would u be interested? there is 2 of us also
cari and Denver mary too !

k i just left messg for cocoa beach shuttle see what they say tomorrow how r you planning on getting the cruise bus? r you taking a taxi to a hotel we left out of grand floridian from all star movies taxi to it was 20 dollars ....

/
We are currently picking up the bus at the Swan and Dolphin, we were thinking we could just use free Disney bus transport to get there, as we'll probably only take a rucksack for the cruise each, we'll be leaving our cases at Pop.

We were told that although we have to go elsewhere to pick up the bus, that it will drop us back of at Pop, which I thought was a bit random but hey!

Let me know what quotes you get back, it'll be interesting to see if they are comparable to the transfers and then we can make a decision :thumbsup2 It'd be nice to set of a bit earlier than the DCL transfers if the price is right, coz I don't think they pick up at the S&D until around 1.30pm!!

Can I get a refund from DCL for our transfers if we cancel them though, coz we already paid off everything while the pound to dollar rate was good?

yea i think you can get a refund ... did u book ur ENTIRE pkg thru disney or did uou book ur hotel on your own ? i dont think you can take a bus from pop to swan but i could be wrong last year i had to take a taxi from movies to grand floridian .... i think the only way around a taxi is take a bus to the park then transfer to a bus that goes to the hotel you want
yes they will drop you back at your hotel after the cruise it is wierd huh ? i wonder bec i am disabled and i have the dog if i can get a van for us from disney to go to pop .... now my mind is rolling i will find out and if it works out that they can just pick us up from pop then i will do that and wow wouldnt you know it .... you are in my party tpp LOL ... i will call disney tomorrow
stay tuned
cari and Denver mary too

Just the cruise only and the transfers were booked through Disney, and then we actually transferred our booking to Dreams Unlimited to take advantage of some extra onboard credit offer, so I don't know if that now causes a hitch in the plan, I didn't think of that before.... :sad2:

We would probably take a bus from Pop to DHS and then walk to the Swan, or take the boat or bus depending on what transport was around at the time, so it's not a problem for us if we still have to do it this way.

Let me know what you manage to find out though.

ok so what if we just took the town car ( all four of us and Denver too ) TO the ship .... it would be about 20 bucks savings for each group BUT it would allow us to book it and have them pick us all up WHEN WE WANT not when disney decides .... then on the way back we could use disney ..... i liked disney back but getting there was a pain ....
i will lv another post later tonight to let you know how much for 4 people 1 way ok ? it would be cool .... then we could all SLEEP IN SOME and leave right from our hotel door step

OK dreams unlimited IM CALLING TOMORROW I want stateroom credits too LOL do they bank your money like disney does if you cancel for a sickness at last min ???? i know disney keeps ALL of your money but you can use it again within a year on another cruise .... wonder if dreams unlimited does this too.... i will call tomorrow
how easy was it for you to transfer this stuff ?

ok so check out coca beach shuttle they r even cheaper thanks the town car the town car is 130 for four the shuttle 75 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats from the airport i will call tomorrow and see about from pop
stay tuned

I think I just filled in a form on the DU website to have them transfer the booking from Disney to them if I remember rightly.

I can't really remember any of the terms and conditions of everything though, sorry.

I've never heard of Cocoa Beach Shuttles, have you used them before? If it's around $75 between us all that's a great price though. Disney transfers are about $35 one way per person.

I'm going to email DU and see what would happen if I wanted to cancel our transfers....

Hi everyone, I can't believe we're now into 2009 and we are going on a Disney Cruise this year :cool1:

Just thought I would update you on the situation with the kids - although we had originally decided not to tell them until we were on our way to the port, we spent some time over Christmas with our friends, the Longstaffs (who we are going on the cruise with) so decided to break the news to the kids then.
We had already told them that we would be having a couple of days at the beach (the beach part cleverly invented so that Natalie and I were able to discuss the arrangements for the cruise but by inserting the word 'beach' in the appropriate place when the children were in earshot). The kids had been told we were going to Cocoa Beach so were they in for a treat.

When Nat, John and the kids arrived on the morning of the 27th December, I had hidden some clues to a little treasure hunt around the house. The 'prize' was an envelope containing a disc which read 'Play Me' - when they played the disc, this is what they saw (click on the video file below to watch).

The kids were absolutely over the moon with their surprise and there were a few tears shed - and not just by me and Natalie :rotfl: Of course, there is much more excitement now about the holiday and we are all looking forward to the cruise element.

Can't wait to meet you all - this is going to be so much fun :)

thats so cool !!!! people r so inventive these days ! cant wait to meet you all too !!!1

ok i have not used cocoa beach shuttle but i have herd on these boards they r good and reliable soooooo. It is 75 dollars for the 4 of us YEs killer good deal huh ? but it my be a bit more bec that quote was from airport im trying to get info as i type ..... will be back

ok so heres the skinny on cocoa beach

for 4 it is 105 plus a 20 oercent gratuity it is a shared ride but they WILL pick us up from pops door step or any other hotel we choose the cheaper rate was if you stayed at the airport area hotels ... they can pick us up at 830 1030 or 1230 we choose
thats the facts think on it i might just do it one way bec of the simple fact i wont have to mess with a yaxi and have to leave on disneys watch i can leave at 1030
cari and Denver

I agree it would be nice to leave earlier.
I'm just waiting on DU to get back to me about what would happen if I cancelled the DCL transfers, they're normally very prompt at replying, so I might resend the email as I haven't even had a notification it's been received yet....

I might try to send them another e mail too ... i sent one to see if i could switch over and get the onboard credits. If we decide we want to do the shuttle together I will call and get all the details and see if we can just pay them the daY OF OR if they need advanced payment . if they need advanced maybe they will work with us so we can both pay half... id like to leave from pop it would be nice what time would you be interested in leaving ? remember our rooms will not be done till 13o but you can always go eat lunch etc . if we all take the shuttle I will be asking for assistance from DCK at the port thru security ... I can also say your guys r in our party just seperate reservations .. maybe you can go thru with us ....youll get taken straight to the counter to check in with us too
just thinking out loud
