Roll Call - April 3, 2004 Eastern Magic!

macege....glad to hear we now have added some dis girls to the bunch....I also have an 11yod and a 16yod....sounds like there will be a meeting of the minds!!!

We had another snow day yesterday...we now have to makeup 4 days....I don't think they can force me to cancel a trip I have already paid for and would lose the $$...it has happened before and they made us use our personal and sick days...which is OK w/me as long as I still get to go....how about you Matthewsmom? I am in Ocean Co....where are you?

Hi,
Oh, we are only on day # 2 here for snow days. I'm not worried about my vacation. NOTHING is going to stop me. I'll work without pay if I must. I NEED this vacation.
I'm in Mercer County. "Anthraxville"....
What are you doing in St. Maarten? I can't figure out what to do!!

This will be our 3rd time on this itinerary....so we will probobly just lay low....do some strolling in the area just off the boat...its a very nice little shopping section...and enjoy a mostly empty boat. We have done "Under 2 Flags" and Golden Eagle Catamaranin the past....the Golden Eagle was very nice and enjoyable.

Hope we are snow free for a while....I feel like I live in Vermont!

60-day mark!!!!! Hooray!

Did you make any excursion plans?

We are going on the Dolphin and Stingray Encounter!
I'm thinking in St. Thomas that we will go to Coral World
on our own. Anyone been to the beach near Coral World?

Yea, 60 days and counting. Booked my excursions this morning. The dolphin encounter in St. Maarten, the submarine in St. Thomas, and the parasailing in Castaway Cay. I CANNOT WAIT!!!!!

:bounce: We booked our excursions this morning as well!!! We'll be on the Dolphin/Sting Ray swim in St. Maarten, my DH will scuba in St. Thomas while we do the Submarine, then we will all catamaran and snorkel at Castaway!!! We can't wait....especially with the ice and cold--2nd snow day this year!!
We would love to meet up with some of you fellow DISers!!
Just keep thinking 60 days and counting down!!!!!

Hey Kelly it seems as if we have the same idea! I'm just gonna check my excursions that I made this morning. You called it the dolphin swim, on the excursion list it is the encounter. I've heard about someone that booked the encounter and they ended up being booked for the observation (that will never do). I also booked the snorkle package at Castaway, I figured we can do that any time of the day so that will be good, they have an area just for that. I also want to do the couples cabana massage, but you must do that on the boat. What category did you book and where are you from (just curious). I'm dying to know my room but I have an 11 guarantee, and I'm hearing I may have to wait till I get my documents. Hopefully I can find out sooner.

OK- it is the encounter----I called to double check myself--just to be safe! Whew!:p When you mentioned that someone booked it without being able to swim, I got a little nervous, but we are booked to be active with the dolphins!
We also booked at a cat. 11 with a guarantee through our TA. I will be happy with whatever category and room we get, but I would also like to know what cabin we will have.
I see you are late dinner. So are we!
I would also love to get a cabana massage as well as a spa visit onboard. Maybe we will meet up in line on the 3rd!! We all deserve the pampering! princess:
So looking forward to this first cruise! This winter weather is driving me nuts!!!

So I was doing some more searching for info on the dolphin/stingray encounter and they will have to groups an AM and a PM the AM group goes first then goes to Meads Bay for sun and lunch the PM get the sun and lunch and then goes last. When you guys signed up did they ask you which group you wanted to be on? I will be signing up this week as we are now fully PAID!!! Talk to you all soon

Oh and YES I will be getting some sort of spa treatment. I was thinking a facial one day that 20 minute bath thing that feels like it was two hours. I was also looking at making an appointment at one of the spas in the hotels when we dock. but I think they will be just as much money.

Take care all, Steph

They didn't ask me to designate a time like they did on the ressie for the submarine in St. Thomas.
Oh, a facial sounds lovely! I don't know what spa treatment I will sign up for, yet. I will probably take what I can get!
As it gets closer to the trip, we will need to set a place and time to meet! You girls sound like so much fun!!
Stay warm!!

All of the Dolphin Encounters have a meeting time of 7:30, we picked the 10:30? for the submarine in St. Thomas, and the 10:15 parasailing (not me, the hubby and dd) for CC. I was thinking about the cabana massage, but I read back on the old threads, and some people made the argument that you're taking away from the day on the island, I kinda agree, and also the fact that it is so expensive and the noise can make it not as enjoyable as it should be. So with that, I've decided to do a couples massage in the spa. I think myself and the dh will be very happy with that. By the way kelly, how old are your child(ren)? Our dd is 8 and is just now getting very very excited. Can't wait to meet all of you.

Hi Everyone,
I'm so excited just reading your posts. My TA has not made my final payment despite the fact that 10 days ago I made authorization for it...so I can't make my reservations for dolphin swim yet:confused:
I saw you guys had a late dinner seating. Me too. Can't wait to meet you all.

Sillysmom- I have two boys-ages 9 and will turn 7 on the ship. They are both beside themselves excited!!
I was a little upset for getting the late seating at first, but after reading many threads and seeing that you guys are late, I am now glad. :)
We are on a school delay again today because of ice. The tropical weather seems so far away!
Talk to you all soon!

Hi All!

Wow less than 60 days - I'm really excited!

So far we have only booked the Golden Eagle Catamaran (4-4.5 hours) in St. Maarten for 1:00 PM.

not sure if we are booking any others or just exploring on our own!

About that embarkment day meet - anyone want to plan to meet by Scoops on deck 9 around 3:00 PM - we can get to know each other and let our kids meet!

Sounds like a plan Trekker, the only thing is we don't know what time we are gonna get on board. I would hate to miss it, maybe we should make it on Sunday when we're all settled in and we can relax for a bit? Can't wait to meet all of you!

I would like to meet everyone as well. When ever it is, we'll be there!!
Can somebody tell me how to put a counter on?
Thanks.

I think I mentioned this before....last year the folks I had met on the boards did not plan a formal meet...we all went to home depot and got the "Alien Green" mickey paint card that we wrote our screen name on. I placed mine in my lanyard pouch that I wore around my neck...we had fun finding each other right in the boarding line and our kids were friends before we even boarded!

My family would be glad to meet anywhere...anytime. We could do Scoops at 3:00 and do some other time, too! I like the lanyard idea, too!!
We are so ready!!!
Talk to you all, soon!!
:earsgirl: Kelly

ps- I just got back from Dollar Time. We found a bunch of glow in the dark necklaces for all of the kids at night! :Pinkbounc

dcbrown - Did you write your DIS name on them or something? Did the kids have their own green mickey too? If so, what did you write on theirs? e.g., UMTerp's DD?

I can't wait to get rid of all of this ice and snow and into the warm!!!

We wrote our screennames on them....I wrote DCBrown and the kids wrote thier screen names. They had corresponded beforehand as well...it worked nicely....we all seemed to have that extra bit of info and knew what time to get to the port to be the first ones in line.
