Just wondering how bad Roger Rabbit ride is for motion sickness?? I do not do really good with spinning rides so just wondering if this is one I should avoid.
Thanks!!

:cool1:10 more sleeps until first family visit to DL!!
:cheer2:

I HATE this ride. There are like..two rides I won't go on at DL and this is one of them. Bleh. I've given it three chances, it's out. haha.

Saying that, it's not really motion sickness that gets me (I occasionally can get motion sickness on stuff like teacups..) but it's jerky. I just don't like it. It depends HOW motion sick you are. I didn't think it was crazy spinny (like teacups for example) but it does spin a few times out of control.

It's a little jerky but you control the spinning so I'm thinking that as long as you don't spin it around too much you'll be fine. It's not a centrifuge machine like the teacups which I always get sick on.
I think it is one of the better and fun dark rides at DL so I'd try not to miss it. If you decide not to ride then at least walk through the queue as it is one of the better ones in the park. Just let your eyes adjust first as it is pretty dark as well.

It is very, very jerky. I was so excited to ride it for the first time last year, and I couldn't wait to get off. I get a little motion sick occassionally in my "older" age (no more teacups for me), and while it didn't make me really sick, I didn't feel great getting off of it either.

Hmm, don't remember being really jerky. They just refurbished it late last year so maybe it's running a little more smoothly now?

I get motion sick very easy. On coasters, spinners, a bit on Soarin' and even slightly on Peter Pan. I do fine on Roger Rabbit but I keep the car facing forward, which is not real easy but even if you can't always control it, it barely spins by itself at all. It is not like other rides where you spin the wheel, this wheel feels rusted. :)

I personally do not get super sick coming off the Roger Rabbit ride but I hold that wheel STILL! Absolutely no extra spinning coming from me. It is a little more spinny and disorienting than, say, Mr. Toad, but I don't think it's unmanageable. That's just me though! If you are prone to motion sickness, I would maybe try it and keep the wheel still but if you are INCREDIBLY prone to motion sickness, I wouldn't.

Definitely watch a youtube video though, and see how that is for you. A lot of the videos there are people who have filmed it when the car is not spinning. I hope that helps!

I, too, have always been very motion sensitive. I can do teacups if we don't spin it and I do the ballet trick of "spotting" an object. Roger Rabbit doesn't give me any issues, though. I have little doubt you'll be fine, too.

Yay for us dancers!! My teacher/mentor just tweaked and improved my spotting for the whole month before our year-end show so I'm stoked to go to Disneyland...

*slaps forehead* I have NEVER THOUGHT about the fact that that's why they do that. :lmao:

I was even IN ballet (uh for a couple years at like 6 years old LOL) and my DD is currently in it. Man I'm slow!

Congrats! Now you have even MORE excuses to go to D-Land. "Yeah, I really need to work on my spotting, ok? I'll be back." :rotfl:

EmmersIsTheMommy, you're funny! The rumor of how that technique began is kind of interesting, though. Supposedly a dancer was enthralled with a gentleman sitting in the audience. Was he wearing a medal or something? I don't remember, but supposedly she couldn't keep her eyes off of him. Then they discovered that she was able to do many more spins like that so it was an adopted strategy.

Thanks everyone!! I just don't want to spend the day with my 4 year old and 7 year old feeling crappy as this is the first ride they want to go on!! I think I am paying too much attention to what the tour book description of the ride. Thanks again much appreciated!!
:yay:

Wish I'd known that. I might have tried it again this summer. I rode it last summer. Oh well, DD (then 4) didn't like it and didn't want to go on it this year anyway.

This was the one ride DD was afraid off when we first went to DL when she just turned 2, she wasn't scared of anything else that she rode. It is a little dizzy, it was down the last time we went so she didn't ride it again. It is nothing like Tea Cups at all, I think you'd be fine :)
