I totally trust @pkrieger2287 — I just wonder if something is screwed up on Disney’s end.
The $88 that went through was an Oct UY and didn't have any points left for 2024 - not super useful if you need to flip them back Oct 1. Those stripped points may have saved the contract for them!
Also possible it was an international seller.

Disney doesn’t always ROFR the cheapest contracts.

I am doing research and wanting to buy my first contract. What role does the international seller/buyer have to play in the DVC scheme?

Exstryker---$95-$27790-250-AUL-Jun-0/23, 340/24, 250/25- sent 8/2, passed 8/29
Congrats neighbor! Nice to have some of those points available to use immediately. Hopefully you have a quick close! I passed on 8/28 so I'm curious how long it'll be from date of passing to being able to use points. Keep us updated

Disney does not (yet at least, that I know of) use ROFR on international sellers. There are a number of additional loopholes to jump through and it can take a much longer time start to finish to close on an international contract.

As stated, it helps avoid the contract being taken in ROFR. I bought a contract from an international seller a couple years ago when ROFR was very active across many resorts. I don't feel it added much time over a domestic seller resale contract. The closing thread would verify they don't add much time.

The only other slight concern was we got a couple notices from the IRS regarding FIRPTA. Shot an email to our escrow/closing agent and they handled everything. No action on our part.

With the small and sporadic ROFR activity, I wouldn't feel the need to actively search out an International Seller, I wouldn't avoid one either.

Thanks for the inputs. I am in Canada, just wanted to make sure there is nothing I missed in my research. :)
