In looking at this along with the previous ROFR threads it appears Disney does not historically buy back the small contracts. I have two questions:

1. In your opinion, is it strictly because of the premium price a small contract has or is it due to the point size?
2. Does anyone know when Disney buys back a contract, do those points simply go back into the overall Disney pool of points or if they buy back a 150 points contract, those 150 points continues to stand as a unique contract for Disney to sell?

I don't know the answer to #1, but on #2, my understanding is that the contract stands as is. I don't think Disney is allowed by the timeshare agreement to further break up or combine contracts to make them smaller or larger. I certainly bow to others' expertise on this subject, however.

Disney can and does break up contracts and sell them off in smaller pieces as separate contracts. For example, if they bought back a 150-pointer at some resort and had people on the waiting list who wanted less than 150 points, they would break up the contract and sell it as multiple add-ons.

Disney can combine contracts only if those contracts are from the same Unit within the resort. Some of us here think this is why sometimes Disney lets a cheaper contract pass ROFR but then exercises ROFR on a more expensive one. If the more expensive contract is from a Unit they need (so they could combine it with other points from that same Unit they had in their inventory) they might opt to take that more expensive contract.

#1. Until recently Disney has not been very aggressive in ROFR. They almost certainly ignore smaller contracts because of the premium. Unless a smaller contract is from a needed Residential Unit, I do not know that Dis will every take one. Until recently they barely took bigger contracts, unless the price was low. They have gotten more aggressive (since they raised the price of the 'classic' (2042) resorts.

#2. I am pretty sure Disney can break them up, it would be almost useless otherwise. Imagine calling to buy direct "yes, I want 150 Beach club points" ... "well, we can sell you 165, but not 150"

Thanks. I was a little shocked, I really thought they would take this one due to the price per point. I also thought Tuesday tended to be the big day. I also had on my calendar to call next Tuesday, I am surprised I heard this week, I did not expect it to be this fast.

2 MK area resorts, now I have to start targeting other areas...and go ask for a raise :)

Best of luck to all those waiting!

Still waiting! Starting to get nervous. Our first try at DVC resale.
That is taking a while, I hope they notify you soon! Sometimes the brokers are the ones who "forget" to tell you, though.

This is our first time buying DVC and we are so excited! Hopefully I did the layout correctly :)
