I agree with what others have said...it's a blessing. If you like BLT, points at SSR won't give you the 11 month option, so buy where you love.

BTW, I did some number crunching on resales for all the resorts recently and obviously, it will vary based on what the person is asking, but when you calculate cost per point per year (initial cost + yearly dues), BLT is 60-80 cents more per point per year. If you get 160 points, that's $96 - $128 more per year and for me, well worth the 11 month option.

I'm hoping that writing the final check at closing will at least slow down the desire to buy more
Wait until dues paying time rolls around, that helps cure the addonitis as well :)
Sort of amusing all of us so eager to throw thousands of dollars at the mouse (and the purchase of the DVC contract is just the vehicle that hooks us in to buying tickets & food & souvenirs & special events & behind the scenes tours, & MFs etc. going forward) & we are so disappointed when he refuses to let us :)

Lets hope 3rd time is a charm. I know I'm overpaying, but I'm tired of loosing contracts to the mouse. I am consoling myself with the fact that the seller is paying all closing costs/fees.

That's not as bad if seller is paying closing...

It's so funny that you posted this. My husband and I were just talking about that if we don't get the BLT contract we're currently waiting on, that frees up more money for other (boring) things like finally fixing the crack in the driveway, getting better gutters because we now seem to live in the tropics with all this rain, etc. Haha. I really think everything happens for a reason, and I'll happily keep that money and put it towards home maintenance as boring as that sounds. We would do the maintenance regardless, but that stuff adds up quickly, and it'll be nice to have more disposable income when those bills come due but way less fun!

It's so true!

Woohoo!

Wasn't expecting that so quick, what a great thing to wake up to! (Overseas buyer). Because seller pays closing it's actually closer to $77 pp.

(I might share that I received a small inheritance, just a bit under the purchase price, with explicit instructions to put it towards a thing - some thing (not just paying down debt or saving, unless there was dire need) that would keep my beautiful grandparents a part of my life in the future. And I hummed and hawed for a long time until I learned about DVC and then found through resale I could actually get a useful number of points with what was left to me (coming from overseas - and other side of the globe overseas - you really need to come for at least a week to make the 24 hour each way journey worth while).

I'm a total Dis Nut - have been my whole life, so was Pretty motivated once I put two and two together! But I also have so many nieces and nephews, also spread around the world - who I want to share my love of Dis with - but again the big overseas trip has always been just beyond everyone's means. Anyway, DH and I just got to tell the first Sis and Bro in law (with two wonderful daughters) about our pending timeshare, and invite them on our first trip - and their reaction alone was worth it all!)
That's great! Congrats.

I am so excited that I can barely type! This was my first offer and is now my first DVC!

Anyone have any ideas for how to NOT continue looking for DVC contracts? I feel like I could get myself into some trouble... :stitch:
Don't ask me! I put in an offer for BWV before my BLT even closed. :D

I need to stop following this thread because people who submitted when I did are finding out! Ahh!

That means yours is in the "maybe" pile like mine. You'll find out middle of next week most likely. They need to see if there are any takers off their waitlist. Hang in there. Worst case, you get to keep thousands of your own dollars! ;)

Keep thousands of dollars more for another month...odds are you'll eventually buy.

Hah! My saving grace is that our contract can't close until June so hopefully that makes it unattractive to Disney.

haha, yes. But the resale market seems to be dwindling!

I really really hope so! I think being able to book my first trip "home" will help distract me too! But I'm sure the draining of my account might smart a little too... :D
