I'd just do one offer at a time. You'll have to cough up another deposit and then you'll be on the hook for 2 contracts if ROFR is waived on both. Yes, you can rescind within 10 days, but one could pass while the other is pending so you'll still be on a knife's edge that way, and also it's just really rude and inconsiderate to submit an offer on something you're not definitely going to buy, IMHO. If you do that, it's not available to another potential buyer, and you're wasting the seller's and broker's time.

It seems to take forever, but it's not really a big deal in the scheme of things. Submit an offer, cross fingers, and repeat if necessary!

I'm new to this. You folks with experience, why do you think some resales are offered at significantly below market? Here I thought I had a shot at a good deal but seem to have shot myself in the foot! Do the sellers/brokers ever hope for Disney to take some contracts for a quicker resale process?

This was our first contract so we are very excited. Now I will be looking for a wilderness lodge contract same use year similar number of points. I am trying to get a sense from here what a good price is for that kind of contract - any ideas?

It's a lot more than I paid for our SSR contract, but we really wanted BWV.

So, we received word today that the owner (accidentally) misrepresented the points. There are only 8 2016 points. So, we can rescind our offer or adjust our offer. What to do.......

So after almost a month, the deal fell through. The owners misrepresented points, as they had lost track of saving, borrowing and transferring. To save the deal, they offered to transfer 130 points from another contract to make up for the misrepresented points, but Disney said you cannot include transferred points as part of a deal. So, we are back to the drawing board.

I was wondering how the membership ID works. Do you get different membership ID for different contracts? For example, do I get 3 ID if I own 3 contracts? Basically, is it easier for current members to get their points from a contract right away vs a new member who would have to wait a few weeks to get a membership ID?

Yeah it's a little easier. You get one login / card, but can get an extra card for other people titled on the contract. Other contracts (in the same UY and titled the same) just tack onto the same login. I bought some extra points and am just waiting for them to hit my account... don't care when the paperwork gets here. In fact getting the card in the first place wasn't automatic. I had to wait for the letter, set up a login, see them online, then request the card. It came in a couple days. You can start booking as soon as you get your # tho. The card is just for perks like the dining discount when you're traveling, so there's really no urgency to get your card right off.

I think it's like anything resale. Whether it's a house, car, or toy. People will list them for absurd prices to cheap prices and everything in between. Just depends on the attachment, motivation to sell, reality check of the seller, expectation to list high and bargain down, etc. I don't think the seller or broker cares if Disney buys it... They get the same money, same commission. You found someone who wanted to sell fast, and Disney happened to want the deal you got. Doesn't mean you shouldn't keep looking for good deals. Disney won't take them all.

One member ID per use year.

3 (identically titled) contracts in one UY = 1 membership ID. Much easier to manage that way. If you buy a different UY, it'll be a separate membership.

First time posting - I've just started making offers on 100 pts AKV, with the intention of topping up with 25 points direct from Dis to get full membership visits when at WDW. (Long time Dis Nut who is finally giving in!)

I want the ability to start planning a winter trip asap, so I'm making quite a high initial offer to secure a quick acceptance. Will let you know when something's accepted!

Here are my two questions (I hope it fits within this forum!!):
I am not based in the US, and so will probably use my points every second year, sometimes banking/sometimes renting. But I have immediate family in the US (my parents) that I would like to share points with, who would use them when I'm not there (or might take the grandkids!). I know I can book for my family even if they're not members, but could I also add them as purchasing members at the time of purchase so that they can have membership benefits when at Disney, and the ability to book their own holidays? (I realise most member "extra" benefits only come from points purchased directly from Disney, so if I could add them as purchasers on both contracts - from resale and from Dis, that would be ideal). Put another way, is there a limit on the number of owners/purchasers? I will have sole responsibility for annual dues - but I would love for them to have as much of the membership benefits as I have.

Also, does anyone having experience extracting an extra 25 or so "top up points" directly from Disney for the same lodge? I'd want AKV with the same use year.

You can add them on if you want. Just be sure to understand the legal implications. They'll be co-owners and will have the same rights and responsibilities as you do. As for the add on, just call whatever guide you're assigned after you're a member and be persistent and they'll eventually get you the direct add on.

Any further questions on this, I'd recommend starting a new thread since the answers aren't quite as simple as I put it here and that way others can chime in and provide more insight!

Owning a current contract, titled the same and with the same use year, will save you about two days. They don't have to create the membership account, so they can just add the contract to your current membership.
