I may be overlooking something obvious but if I list to sell and Disney comes along and buys it instead of letting someone else, how I am losing? Don't I still get my asking price and a smooth sale? I would feel bad for the potential buyer but as the seller, how am I losing? Please show me the light. :confused3

Seller doesn't lose anything except the knowledge that they probably could have gotten a higher price. They still get the same deal to which they agreed to with their prospective buyer.

Disney's option, when considering ROFR, is to accept or pass on the offer presented to them by the seller. If they pass, the buyer is allowed to complete the sale at the terms already accepted by the seller. If DVC exercises ROFR, they will accept the presented offer at the same terms. In either case, the seller will receive the same amount for the sale. The "buyer" will get back any escrow money deposited and will be free to pursue other purchases.

The seller will not lose anything because of ROFR, he will get exactly the same terms already accepted.

I got ROFR'd and no issue-I was disappointed that the resale company I used sort of lost interest and dropped me like a hot potato. I found out through a letter from DVC and when I called the resaler, she already knew! Oh well. I did feel badly for the folks who had 'bought' my points. It seemed to me to take quite awhile to get my $$ from DVC, but a call to them and within 5 days, the $$ appeared.
