ROFR-A Bone to Pick-Why Post the Announcement?

:scratchin "Ranting" usually indicates annoyance to me.

Do the countdown threads annoy you too??:confused3 Do you open those?

I use smiley guys in all of my posts...I know that's annoying to many.:scared: That's GOT to bug you, right?!

Sorry, but I have to agree with some of the other posters and say if these threads bug you enough for you to start a self proclaimed rant then you should avoid reading the threads altogether! :rolleyes1

Disney passes on ROFRs all the time. They reject on ROFRs all the time. There's nothing statistically meaningful in simply telling us "we passed" or "we didn't pass".

Are these posts as described in the paragraph proceeding this one (joy and celebration) or are they thought to somehow be informative of what is happening at any given instant in time in the ROFR process?

If one is not going to share any quantitative information regarding the ROFR, why share anything other than, "We purchased a DVC interest today. Please join us in our joy over this."?
I understand what you mean. I open those threads feeling happy that the poster has passed an important milestone on the way to getting their resale contract, but hoping that they will share the pricing details that matter to those of us who like to track current resale values. Sure, I can go dig up the ROFR thread to see if they also posted there, but it sure would be helpful if they posted the information in their "I passed ROFR" thread as well.

After seeing so many of these threads and finding people are usually willing to share the information if asked, I just assume that they are really excited that the deal is going through and just want to share that excitement with people who they know will "get it". That leaves us analytical types with the task of either asking for the details or going off in search of the ROFR thread. :surfweb:

This is the Mousecellaneous board and if folks want to post they passed ROFR and are excited, I don't see a thing wrong with it.

I am voting that we start two new boards: :)

  • the happy board where only happy news can be posted, and only posters who want to celebrate with the OP can post a response
  • the vent board, where people can post a vent. However each thread is immediately locked after the first post, so that nobody who disagrees with the vent can post

;) I think that would make things much more clear, and those of us who accidentally stumble across one of those threads and post the 'wrong' type of reply wouldn't be making that mistake!
