TERRIFIC!

You folks will be in for a treat later this summer when Mission Space opens to the public for a soft opening on August 15th. Epcot Cast Member previews began today.

Be prepared to blast off for a new experience. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to riding it again. The gift shop has some great stuff for kids and the post show was was a lot of fun, too.

Ditto, please tell us more. We need a few spoilers, please and thank you!! :teeth:

No spoilers needed but can you tell us how intense the motion is? Would someone who gets sick on body wars get sick on this?

Would love to hear about it.

Oh, now you have to tell us everything and in great detail please. I can't wait to ride it!!!

Well, must admit I was a little nervous beforehand due to the rumors that had been flying around. Went over with several co-workers after work so we could give each other moral support (lol). Happy to say we didn't need it!

Walking into the building you will see a mock-up of the seats you will be in, as well as a big glass window through which you can see Mission Control. You will be given a pre-flight talk and then proceed down the hall to wait until the doors to enter your seat open. You will go in groups of four in one vehicle (pod) and there will be ten groups going at the same time (40people). Each of the four of you will be assigned a position in the craft (I was the engineer today) and you will be given instructions during flight as to what you will do. Pull your harness down and the control panel in front will move right up to you (each person has their own). The doors to each vehicle (pod) will then close and you'll be ready for take-off. Go at throttle up and you're off.

I must say the opening sequence is fantastic and I will let it be a surprise for you folks, as well as the details of the rest of the flight.

See you all on Mars soon. ;)

I guess the big question might be if this is a before lunch or after lunch kind of ride? That's usually pretty important for some of us older kids :D

CAN'T
WAIT!

Glad to see all the interest for the new ride.

George: I would suggest having lunch after the ride. I'm an older kid, too.

ChiTown: I believe the height requiremernt is 44 inches but don't quote me on that. Just what I happen to have heard but not officially.

WDWLVR: The usual warning signs were posted, as well as for motion sickness.
If you are sensitive to motion sickness, heed the warnings.

Too bad the opening is on a Friday, or I would be there!;) Hmm.........maybe I WILL be there!;) (I will just call in sick to work that weekend).:o Shhh......;)

Sounds awesome!!! Can't wait to go on it!!! Would you say that 6 and 7 year olds could handle this?

Can you elaborate on any gift shop items?

Can't wait can't wait can't wait!

NO! I don't want a surprise! I'm scared and I want to know exactly what to expect every minute so I have the guts to go on it. Couldn't you post a "spoiler" for all of us cowards? Pretty Please?

I second the spoiler motion -- my kids refuse to go on this unless they know exactly what will happen. I got a bunch of wimpy kids here!! They still won't forgive me for telling them Dinosaur would be "nothing" back in 1998. I still get grief about it!

Will they have Fastpass right away for this ride. I'm psyched we will be there on the 21st. DH and I will definitely be on it.

Ok, what are the other three job functions... engineer, and what else?

I'm assuming navigator, maybe chief, and what's the other one?

44 inches.. YES!!!!!!!! I have a 46 inch daughter and we will be going in AUGUST! You have no idea how happy I am... to hear that... even if it goes up to 46 I am covered! YIPEE!!!

Now, we are a thrill seeking family.. we go on coasters, simulators, you name it, we do it... so will this be fine for us? I'm assuming so.. us older kids are *too keen* on spinning rotations, but we can do it... of course we will for a new ride...

Is it true there are three different endings, depending on how you do your missions (a la Men in Black, at USF)

Do you really feel weightless?

Tell all.... and thanks for posting!

Also where are you usually in Epcot? We want to say hi to you in August? (You may not even know yet... for August.. )
