***ROCKSTAR: Supernova*** (spoilers welcome)

I had no idea they had "put on a red light" in that song.......

hmm I kind of like this one.

I like a couple of the girls better but do you really see them with a female lead singer?

I'm sorry, but this last guy creeps me out just a little bit. Love his voice, though.

I think they like the girls too!

Don't you think some of them are trying to "push" it a bit?

It will be interesting, that's for sure, and I agree, I thought the same thing, a female lead singer?? But who knows...I didn't think a female was right for INXS at all...although I liked a couple of those gals alot

:rotfl: well I'm sure they like them......Jason even asked the one chick to marry him. DH informed that there was no way in hell that Jason Newstead would have a girl front his band.... The fact that he is even in a band with Tommy Lee and Gilby Clarke surprises me........

Who was the one with the dreadlocks? She was my favorite.

My favorites were Jill and Storm. I didn't like Magni and Chris. This show needs a female judge so that the female contestants will hear something other than you're so hot.

Just as with INXS, I don't believe for a second they are seriously considering a female singer. I'm sure the women don't mind - just the exposure has to be good for their potential careers.

The last guy was my favorite male voice but I'm no fan of his look. Ditch the pink eyeshadow and don't wear the hair to accentuate the giganto receding hairline.

Why is that?

Jordis is the one who I liked from RockStar INXS.

Jordis Unga. I luvvvvved her. She was my second favorite right after JD. I pegged JD to win after his second performance -- California Dreaming. Gawd, I can still hear his arrangement of that song, I loved it so much.

Good night folks, I'm off to bed!

A/C is in my room and I like to read for an hour or two before falling asleep.

Jason has always been in really hard metal bands. He left Metallica partly because they weren't as heavy as they used to be. Motley Crue is my fave. metal band but they weren't nearly as heavy as Metallica even in their lighter days. Gilby Clarke was in this pop metalish band in the mid 80's.....can't remember their name but I do have the record album  I'm just surprised he is going this direction is all I'm saying......unless Tommy and Gilby are going harder but then this is a tv show so I can't see them being too hardcore.....now I'm rambling :teeth:

:wave2: goodnight

Is the show on weekly? I'm sorry but I've not paid attention to the schedule...I will TIVO it for sure, but I remember last year they had some stuff on VH1

That would be Guns N' Roses

I'm just stoked that Butch Walker (of Rome, Georgia!!) is one of the judges. He happens to be a FANTASTIC lead singer, himself - anyone remember Marvelolus 3? That was Butch's band! I don't know why Tommy and Co. don't just hire him. But, then I guess there'd be no show.

I'm throwing my lot in with the "they won't hire a girl" gang here. But, the girls were the best tonight. The second girl who sang...Patrice -when they were showing her profile, I hated her. When she came on stage, I hated her. When I heard that she was going to attempt a Grace Slick (a TRUE rock GODDESS) song, I hated her. But, man oh man, did she ever throw down! And now, I LOVE LOVE LOVE her!

Although I loved the creepy man-voiced chick's (Dilana?) performance, I don't see them really going with her in the end. Their songs have to be playable on radio for them to make a go of it. If you were to hear her voice on the radio, you'd think it was just a really bad male singer.

The cutie who used to be a real estate salesman - the best he can hope for is to be the leader of a "The Cure" tribute band. At the Holiday Inn. (Please note, I ADORE the Cure and Robert Smith, and do not imply this as an insult to them)

I think overall, the talent pool for INXS was much better than this year's selection. Tommy and the guys have to be a little bit panicky after tonight.

And the last guy they loved so much? When he came out singing, I turned to my husband and said, "Boy, Ron Howard's ugly little brother will do anything to get on camera, won't he?"

I'm hooked though, and can't wait for the rest of the season.

Oh man am I excited this show is back on :cheer2: Boy did I miss Dave Navarro..hubba bubba!!!! As some others have stated, I'm not 100% sure a woman will fit in with Supernova; but I guess it's a little too early to tell for sure. I don't agree that the talent pool is less than it was for INXS, yes, there were a few that were dreadful..but I try to keep in mind that this was the first show..so song selection, nerves etc could have played a part as well.

With that all said, here is my rundown and opinion hehe:

Storm "Pinball Wizard"- I thought she was pretty good. She had great stage presence and a decent voice. At times, it was hard to hear her clearly, but that could have been for a multitude of reasons. All in all, pretty alright lol.

Ryan "Iris"- This song is one of my favorites and I find when someone sings a song that I love..I am very critical of it. That being said, I think he did great. It was not the Goo Goo Dolls, but he had a nice voice and I really, really enjoyed it.

Zayra "Bring Me To Life"- I understand you are supposed to bring your own "vibe" to your performances, but this was like a mariachi version of this song and I didn't like it at all. I was FLOORED that the guys in the band liked it. She had a nice voice, but I couldn't get over the actual sound of the whole thing. I'm hoping she brings something a little different to her next performance.

Toby "Knockin' On Heavens Door"- I was interested in seeing Gilby's reaction to this song since he has played it a million times with Guns N Roses and I was pleasantly surprised that he liked it. I thought it was a great version, showcased his vocals nicely and I look forward to hearing more...and he's HOT! LOL!

Phil "Cult of Personality"- :sad2: This is such an amazing song and I thought he did absolutely no justice to it. It sounded like he could barely keep up and his range was all over the place. I was getting distracted because he is such a cutie, but it was pretty bleah IMHO.

Patrice "Somebody To Love"- I've always thought Gracie Slick's voice was one that was hard to duplicate, but Patrice did a pretty fantastic job. She definitely has pipes and she's one of the few girls that I could actually see fronting Supernova.

Matt "Yellow"- I'm not a big fan of Coldplay, so right there I kind of tuned out lol. He definitely did a good job, but I think it was a poor song choice for your first performance to a band that are hardened rock n' rollers. If he can kick it up a notch next time, I'll definitely listen in.

Magni "Satisfaction- I really wanted to like this guy's performance because he has a cool look, being bald and all hehe. However, I thought he pressed a lot and I don't think his voice was right for this song. I am really interested in hearing him sing something else though because I think he has the voice, just picked a song not tailored for it.

Josh "She Talks to Angels"- *sigh* I really loved this. Chris Robinson from the Black Crowes has a very distinctive voice, so I was terribly nervous that this would be awful, but boy was I surprised. He has a great bluesy voice and he's just adorable! The only potential problem I see is that his style of singing isn't what Supernova may be looking for. I can't wait to hear him sing something else!

Jenny "How You Remind Me"- I didn't like it LOL. Not sure what else I have to add, but her voice seemed "OK" to me and the song didn't showcase any talent.

Jill "Piece of My Heart"- Whenever someone attempts to sing a Janis Joplin song, I cringe..but this girl has got some pipes. I think she screeched a few too many times, but hey, so did Janis! At one point I thought I saw Jason Newstead blocking his ears, but when it was time to comment, none of them had anything "bad" to say.

Dilana "Lithium"- OK, after I was done peeing my pants because her standing there and staring scared the bejeebus out of me, I realized she has an OUTSTANDING voice, crazy energy, a dirty rocker look and probably exactly what this band is looking for. I'm not sure what her range in songs could be because she does have such a low voice, but I thought she rocked and can DEFINITELY see her fronting this band.

Dana "I'm The Only One"- Definitely an amazing voice, she sounded great and looked awesome, but I think she might have trouble singing other types of songs..I like to be proven wrong though :)

Chris "Roxanne"- Well..as with last season, I always have to mute someone out and this week it was Chris. That was GOD AWFUL and I don't think it was just song selection, I don't think he can sing at all. It made my ears hurt and I absolutely don't want to hear him sing again lol.

Lukas "Rebel Yell"- Loved it, loved it, danced in my seat and rocked out LOVED IT! I know his look is a little "odd", but let's look at Tommy Lee for a second LOL. I think he had an AMAZING voice, he has the look, he worked the crowd, he impressed the band...I'm keeping my eye on this kid. WOW.

All in all, I was surprised the band were so "nice" to some of the performers, but maybe it was just because this was the first show. I predict the bottom 3 for tomorrow will be Chris,Phil and Magni with Chris going home.

my sentiments exactly...as I was watching, I was thinking...I liked the people from last year MUCH better on these first go arounds...should be interesting as it moves forward
