Rockin' the Magic for New Years 12-29-2010

So, where are the crafty ones that I can sweet talk into door magnets?? :rolleyes1 I'm so NOT the crafty one...

I am not crafty, but I did go over Creative DISigns section of the boards and request one of the artists there to create something for us (nametags, pictures, etc) and then I copied them to my computer and printed on magnetic paper.

If you need help let me know. I am still looking to see if the group has a graphic for the titles, I might go research to see if I can find one that might work.

What do you think of this graphic for the cruise (sorry for being so bold as to create on when I haven't really got to know you all yet)?
I got the picture from one of the DISigners and put the DIS meet name on it. I am up for suggestions to change.

Seems to be very quiet here, but I am going to use the above graphic as my signature. Let me know if you want a different graphic for this cruise name.

It is dead here... Did everyone drop from this cruise...

So found out that we will be seeing the Wonder at St Maarten for it's eastern cruise. DCL just confirmed that they both will be at the port at the same time.

Also the rumor is that since the Magic is leaving Nassua early on the 7th than normal, we will be cruising past CC while the wonder is there for their PC cruise and the Dream will be in the area too.

How exciting if that is true!!!

That would be awesome to see all 3 ships at once - a great photo op - at least for DCL!

Where'd ya get the rumor from ? It's been so quiet - I thought about making some up ......

We usually never get off the ship in Nassau - I may this time to stock up on "refreshments", wink, wink.

The rumor was on the main board. But did find out from DCL that both Wonder and Magic will be at port at St Martaan.

We just returned from a week of Disney from being at DL. so our next trip will be this cruise.

We will be joining y'all
Me - 30
DW - 30
DS - 4

Can't wait!!!

Welcome - Great to see some movement on this board. It has been quiet for a while.

I have been wondering if everyone has dropped off besides been2marceline.

alas, I dropped off this cruise as well (personal reasons) and am adventuring off into other thingspopcorn::.

Have fun and enjoy your cruise & be sure and take plenty of pics 4 me!:goodvibes

lucky1, we also are currently in a secret porthole room, I think it's #5520. Don't know if this is good or bad. We had cat 10 on our Feb 2010 cruise and liked not having a porthole. I agree this is a bunch of money for a cruise but feel that its gonna be well worth it to be on the magic for a new years cruise!

boudreaux0 - I think we snagged up the last of the SPH room, which I am super excited about. I am excited about having daylight.

Our first DCL cruise we did cat 10 on deck 2, since it was a 4 night we were okay without daylight. our last one we upgraded to deck 6 Cat 6, while the verandah was very nice, we didn't use it as much as we thought and so to save money we opted for the SPH. I believe you are on the Starboard side and we will be on the port side. Probably will meet up outside the stairs or kids clubs some days.
We have a DD8 who will be turning 9 on the cruise.
I will also have a birthday on the cruise, but I will be withholding my age :rotfl:

Since the OP dropped off the cruise... I decided to at least take a count of who is still here (I can never keep DIS names straight), so here is the list that he started. FYI... I never post kids names on the boards or would not include them on a list, so even if someone has posted them previously I tend not to repost to a public forum.

  1. yensidfan99 (DH) Traveling with DW (jbrookman) DD6
  2. Rose Quartz (Connie) - Traveling with DD
  3. Tinknsnow
  4. Owen_MC - Traveling with DD12, DD10, DD2
  5. been2marcline (Ted) - Traveling with DW(Karen), DD15
  6. sabrecme - traveling with Dkid4, DMom, DAunt
  7. stonekd - traveling with Dsis, DsisSon
  8. 3riverscruiser
  9. boudreaux0 (DH) - Traveling with DW, DS4
  10. lucky1 (Laura) - traveling with DH, DD8

From what I can see from the list, it appears that RoseQuartz, been2arcline, boudreaux0 and lucky1 (all in bold)are definately still in for now as we are the most resent posts since the new year.

Does anyone want to pick of organizing Fish Extenders (FE)?

Wow - 10 families - 875 rooms - I guess there won't be much in the way of lines on the ship..... ;)

We did FE gifts on the last trip, at least the Mrs did, my guess is that she'll get involved as we get closer.

Well, it is still early, so I assume that cruise will grow once the date gets closer and DCL drops price cat 12 and offers Florida rates. I offered this up to having family members traveling with us and they could not justify the price.

BTW.. noticed that you and the Mrs (jbrookman) are from Lynnwood. I have spent a great amount of time there as my in-laws are from there. We head up there at least once a year. also picking the inlaws from the airport this afternoon for their dosage of Arizona Sunshine.

So started looking at what to do at each port. DH said we should only do beach excursions . Does any one have any good suggestions?

I loved doing the beach break at Cozumel, when they provided chairs, drink, lunch and we just had fun playing. But I have never been to the eastern ports to know.

Nassau looks to be a short stay so we're not sure what we'll do that day.

We've been to St. Thomas - the Skyride (Bushwackers!!!) & shopping were our favorites.

St. Maarten - I did the 12 Regata, may do that again, I'm a big sailing fan.

Never been to Tortola - not sure what we'll do there.

Antigua - I worked there for a while - waiting to see what kind of excursions they'll have to English Harbour / Falmouth / Nelsons Dockyard. Very Nice!!

St. John is an old city, some good things there. Near St John is the area where Sandals is at on Dickenson Bay, great beach side eating, water sports, etc.

Castaway Cay - I take out the hobies, have lunch and refreshments at the Air bar, maybe a massage this year - who knows?

I have a feeling since this is the last day of the cruise a lot of people will be staying on the ship and enjoying their final day. I really don't have any plans to get off, but that can change between now and January 2011/

Being from the PNW, sure you get your fill of sailing. Not something that I would enjoy as I don't do well on small boats... I think for St Maarten, we will pick a beach location.

Would love to hear what you think of Antigua, since you have been there. if there is any good beaches you can recommend, that might be our options.
We have a lot of Sand here in Tucson, just not a lot of Water :lmao:

One of the locations had a speedboat excursion that I thought DD8 would get a kick going on.

Hi, sorry for crashing. I'm not on this cruise, but I'll be on the 11-night Holiday cruise just berfore this one. I was looking for information about longer cruises and wondering if any of you might have been looking as well, and maybe found something you were willing to share.

I'm looking for things like:
  • What are dining rotations like?
  • When might Pirate Night be?
  • Should we expect 2 formal nights plus semi-formal (or 1 formal, 2 semi)?
  • How many Palo reservations can you make?
  • What extra evening shows might we expect?
  • Any other information or ideas you might have?
Thanks,
Aaron

Aaron,

Sorry this link is pretty quiet. Not sure how to help you, but here is some information on when I asked about planning from someone that has done a Longer holiday cruise in the past.

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2387475

I think we are going to make plans for Palo for a night that is not new years and hope we don't hit pirates night.

Since we are in doc at St maarten's the same day as the wonder, I wonder if they will do anything special
