Rockin' Roller Coaster

I once was holding a mister fan on a strap between my legs while riding. It was neat seeing how it swung back and forth due to the side to side forces and sometimes felt lighter. At no time did it "point up (really down)". In other words you NEVER feel like you are upside down you are ALWAYS being pushed into the seat*.

* This is for mesaboy2. Yes I do know that the seat is actually pushing on you but I'm not going to try to explain the difference between the false force called centrifugal force vs the real force that is centripetal force. :thumbsup2

I thought that discussion was with doconeill. Though I remember enjoying it. ;)

It is a great ride. It is over very quickly and it seems like after the initial launch, you are always slowing down...especially in the end.

Thats because it is slowing down. It really doesn't have the hills like a regular coaster where it would slow down a bit going up the hills and then speed back up going down.

Whenever my family goes to DHS I refuse to go on and sit on a bench alone and wondering what that ride is really like:lmao: We are going again in November and I was wondering what everyone else's opinion is about it. I refuse to go on rides that go upside-down... but I feel that not going on this ride at all is like... just not right:rotfl2: Please give some advise

P.S. I have never been on an inverted coaster in my whole life:sad2:

Im not a big coaster fan, but I told my kids I would try to go on RNR and everest this time. When we were there in 2009 I went on Big thunder mountain and loved it...I just went on cat woman's whip at 6 flags new england and liked that...but have never been brave enough to go on anything bigger. I don't like big drops....We are heading there in July...so if I actually get up enough nerve and go on I will post back and let you know how it is.

Have you tried looking at the videos on youtube?

This is what the track looked like during construction, and shows the inversions nicely: http://webcot.free.fr/wds/photos/rock15.jpg

Compared to some of the other coasters I've been on, these inversions are very small and quick-- more corkscrewish than full flips. Two are early in the ride, so you're through them almost before you're over the shock of being launched as quickly as you are. The rest is pretty much just like Space Mountain.

I LOVE coasters but my wife always sat on the bench. That is until we had children. The kids were able to get her on RRC and EE and now she like them. Be brave young Jedi... :)

I dont get the reason to not try it once? Why worry about something you dont know anything about...in other words, if you tried it, then you could be worried about going on it again, if you didnt like it, but you have never tried it, you simply are missing out on an adventure, one you may truly enjoy.

the inversion part is nothing..if you can do EE which feels like it inverts, you can easily do this

Ironic that you would describe it this way, I was just about to comment that the fact that you're upside down is totally secondary to how rough of a ride it can be at times as compared to other steel coasters. Oh well, to each their own. :lmao:

I agree with this. The ride seems so rough to me. It's fun, but I always come off of it with a headache. Now ToT, that's a ride I can do over and over again with no problems at all.

You honestly can barely feel the inversions, there is so much going on between the music blaring in your ears, the neon signs in the total darkness, and the speed of the coaster itself. It's a super fun ride, my DH and DD8 favorite ride. :goodvibes

I'm with the others and say to try it at least once and if you don't like it, then you know you don't have to go back on :goodvibes. The most intense part of the whole ride is the take off, and it looks crazier then when you are actually on it (at least for me). I agree with the PP that says to keep your head back when taking off, your head will thank you later :thumbsup2.

I was SO nervous for this ride! But I just kept reminding myself, "What's the worst that can happen?". I figured- If I hate it, then it's over within a couple of minutes and I never have to ride it again. If I like it, then that's great. But if I never go on it, I'll never know.

Well....... I went on it and now I know-- It's one of my top 3 favorite rides in all of WDW!! :woohoo:

Just be brave and do it!!!! :thumbsup2

I am the ultimate ride chicken. I don't do roller coasters. I did ride Space Mountain as a kid but would not ride any of the coasters as an adult.

DD LOVES RnRC. She talked me in to riding it one time. The whole time I kept asking how long the ride was and being told it was just a couple of minutes, I agreed to go on it. Everyone kept telling me it was going to take my breath when it took off.

I kept my eyes closed the whole time and could not tell you anything it does except for going really fast. I did open my eyes a little one time and then ds read a sign "cork screw ahead", eyes closed :rotfl:. In the end, I decided it wasn't that bad, was kind of fun but not something I will do again.

Oh, and I had to remind myself to breath again! :rotfl: I don't think it really took my breathe, but I was so convinced it would I was holding my breathe!

If you are really scared of it, just close your eyes. Truthfully, you feel the take off and it honestly just feels like you are going straight and fast, you cannot feel any of the turns or going upside down or anything.

I am a big coaster baby. But I heard so much about this one so I bit the bullet, it's Disney how bad can it be??:confused3 Now I think this is the best ride in the park I will not pass it by without getting a FP or hopping in the line.
It is sooo smooth and with the dark and the loud music in your ears it is simply a blast!! Comming from a 56yr old I say give it a try, if you don't like it don't go again...but bettcha will!:cool1:

We love this ride. It is so smooth and goes so fast. The first time I rode it, the takeoff took my breath away. It is one of our favorite rides. I think it is better than Space Mountain and the inversions don't bother me.

I think take off is the worst part. The loops really are not that bad and this comes from someone who hates splash mountain. I really think EE going backward is worse than anything on this ride. DD went when she was 9 maybe. Did not like it wanted off the whole ride. I was able to lean forward enough to talk her through it so I guess it was not so bad. Would I rush back to do it...no. I send my DS in single rider line. He goes 5 times and we move on.

The seat is pushing down on you?

I am totally not one of those people who knows the terminology of rollercoasters or how they work. I readily admit it.

But I've been riding them my whole life. I have ridden many, many of them a gazillion times...well, at least thousands of times. Corkscrews, loops, hills, feet hanging down, standing up and getting flipped so I'm flying face-first toward the ground, twisting straight up and down. If they made it, I rode some version of it.

It sure feels like you are whooshed back against the seat! That's half my favorite part of looping, that secure feeling as you go into it.

Certainly on the way into it you have to be pushing back on the seat?

...No?

Simply put, the forces acting on your body are always opposite the direction of acceleration. During the launch, you are being pushed back against your seat since you are accelerating forward. Often when you enter a loop--depends on the track configuration--you are experiencing both forward acceleration and to a greater degree upwards acceleration, so you are feeling both being pushed back into your seat and even moreso down into it. Same concept entering a turn on any coaster, you accelerate to the left in a left turn, so the forces on your body push you to the right.

My least favorite feeling, that true coaster junkies love, is downward acceleration which pushes you up out of your seat--negative Gs. You generally only get this feeling going quickly over a hill, and WDW doesn't have any coasters that specialize in this. The best example I've ridden that does this is Apollo's Chariot up in BG Williamsburg--I know there are others.
