Rockin Roller Coaster down Jan/Feb?

I have seen in 2 "fan" sites that say that the Rockin Rollercoaster will be down from Jan 7 - Feb 10 2007. It is NOT on the official Disney site (and there are other listings during that time frame for other rides that will be down).
So, what do you think? Where do these sites (screamscape) get their info? Do you think that their info is accurate even though it is not yet on the Disney site?

I have called Disney 2 different times to ask about this and both times I was told absolutley not... That they get their information on closings 6 months prior to it happening in order to let their guests know, and since this is a major attraction they would have HAD to let guests know. They said they know before the CM's who work with the ride or in the park even know. I am going to assume Disney is right unless something on the site, or I call and they say different. :bride: :groom:

I sent an email to screamscape to see what the deal is. Where did they get the info and why are they posting it if it isn't true.
Hope it isn't true anyway....I will be there during that time and this is one of my favorite rides!!!

We are also going to be there during that time. Our first trip to WDW, and our honeymoon and we were REALLY looking forward to this ride. When I called Disney they were extremely upfront without any uncertaintity in their voice about what was going on with this. They checked the comp to make sure and assured me they are required to get this info 6 months prior to anything like this. They also told me that they have to notify guests about something like this. He said they are getting a lot of calls with people booking, so this is information they would need to have on hand, but that it will NOT be going down. I called and spoke to 2 different Disney Employees on this since I know that at times information can vary from each CM, but this time it was the exact same information from both people I talked to and they did not sound uncertain about it. I will trust this info unless I hear otherwise from disney. :bride: :groom:

I hope it won't be down for refurb in Jan, already not going to be able to ride Splash Mountain since that will be in refurb while i'm there in Jan. I don't think they ever have more than 1 major ride down at a time for refurb?

I sent an email to screamscape (where I first read about it)...this is the reply I got....

"I got it from a Cast Member who works at the Studios.
These kinds of things change from time to time and while it may be the plan
at the studios it may not have trickled down to the list of attractions that
will be officially closed that the Customer Service has. It was a warning
that it could close down for a rather extensive rehab... and if it isn't
closed on those dates it will likely just be sliding around to sometime
close to that"

Guess we will still have to wait and see. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

This just out from screamscape....

"(9/15/06) A few quick notes on the rumored Rock ‘n Roller Coaster rehab project. Currently Disney is not listing this rehab on their site and phone calls to customer service don’t come up with anything either. However... another insider has gotten back to me to confirm that they’ve also been informed about the lengthy rehab plans, though they didn’t know the exact date. That said, just be warned that Rock ‘n Roller Coaster could be closed between 1/7/07 - 2/10/07. At this point, I think it’s just too far out for Disney to confirm it yet and while the date could change the rehab will likely still happen sometime before they get busy again next Spring"

Guess we will STILL have to wait and see....

i just got an email from MouseSavers and it lists the Rockin Roller Coaster as an upcoming closure for 1/7/07-2/10/07 ... which really stinks because i'll be there the 1st week of february.. :sad2:

I saw this too! I wonder what is up? :confused3

I just checked the Disney web site (again!) and it still isn't listed there! I'm still hoping it is just an awful, horrible, untrue rumor run amok! :worried: pixiedust:

Disney told me they get the information on closures 6 months in advance, and they are notified before anyone works in the park if there is going to be a closure. Since they said they are getting hit pretty heavy by people booking this is information they would HAVE to have in order to notify guests. I called and spoke to 2 different people at disney on this and I got the same stern answer with no uncertain terms. This is a big attraction to the park and they are supposed to notify guests when they are booking their trip which is why the information on upcoming refurbs are given to them 6 months in advance.

I sure hope it is not closed. My dd11 didnt ride it when we were there when she was 7 and she has really been looking forward to it and planning on riding it. We are going February 5th - 10th. We will be part of a school group and I sent information to the teacher who is planning this trip. She sent me a message back if I didnt have good news not to send news. HEHE

She is the same teacher who took my dd14 on RNR when she was there with them on their trip 3.5 years ago. I wont ride it because Im not into those kinds of rides but the rest of my family will be disappointed if its not rockin' along when we are there.

I too got the info in a newsletter from mousesavers.
