Is the Rockin Roller Coaster really closing Jan 2nd for reburbishment? I think that is inconsiderate to customers that they would plan to close two large rides at once! (Also Splash Mountain)
This still isn't on Disney's website but was on allears.net?

Unfortunately this is the time of year that Disney does a lot of refurbishment of their rides.

I believe I read it's closed from the 2nd to the 22nd.

I understand how you feel as we're there in January-- but this is the season that they close things for rehab. I think Splash may have been closed when I was there last January as well.

It is closed in January. I totally understand where you're coming from, but others have said - This is the time of year they do refurbs. Can't do it in December - Too busy. Can't do it in February - Too busy. It takes about a month to refab some of the bigger rides.

If not now........when? During my vacation?? No way! ;) Just kidding. I understand but like the others said, it is all about timing and crowd predictions.

I'll be there early Feb....glad it will be back by then. I understand your frustration, I've been there when major attractions are closed and it's annoying.....just remember it's the happiest place on earth :cool1:

One less park to visit for us ! No RnR, no point. Just not enough there to justify a ticket for us. We have teens. Heading over to IOA.

It is set to open Jan. 22. Thank God. We aren't leaving WDW until Jan. 24. I would have been soooooooo disappointed as would my children because this is one of the rides everyone is most looking forward to.

Here is the list of closed rides during Jan 2006. I still had a great time.

Buzz, Splash, TestTrack, that is just about the 3 biggest rides closed at the same time.

The trade off is you will get to ride all the others over and over with little wait.

I understand that they need to do this during low attendance times however couldnt they at least space them out a little better ? Say one starts on Jan 2 and the other on Jan 7 (which I think was the original date for RnR).. We are going Dec 27-Jan 4 and we didnt expect to do many rides until January because it's going to be so crowded after Christmas. I'm sure we're not the only ones who had planned this way too. Now, once the crowds are gone 2 of the big attractions will be closed - at the same time! Not cool.

When I was there in October, RnR was having mechanical problems, it was closed a couple of times on days I was there. Maybe they cannot put it off any longer.

I would think January would be the least popular time for Splash.

I am toally depressed! Closing Splash was bad enough!!! But now RRC!!!!! :guilty:

Me to Disney = :stir:

...but then again, its only two rides. :joker:

There are pros and cons to every time of year to visit WDW. In January, rides close, weather's cool, parks close earlier, but it's empty and you don't have long lines and can ride other rides 10 times over. Whereas at busier times, all rides are open, but you waste half your day in line.
