Rocketship Sandwich - NOW W/ PICS! - I'm learning - UPDATE 12/5

Just for you whgrn...

DS was given a certificate that he had had a "Magical Moment" and a special fast pass to ride Big Thunder Mountain. (He's too small, but we saved the paper for a souvenier.) Then, the Dream Team explained their mission, and handed me, DH, DS and the other couple Dream Fastpasses!!!

The parks were so slow that day that we didn't even use most of the tabs, but it was just so cool! We tend to be the people behind or just before the winners when it comes to contests and giveaways. So, to be picked just made the day. And, so early on, it really set the tone for a truly magical vacation.

OK, I hadn't intended to do anymore today, so I'll sign off here, but I didn't want to leave you hanging.

Here's DS with the Dream Team and his fastpass.

Oh, THANK YOU!!! Just for ME?:cool1:

How exciting for you. We didn't get any wishes but still had a blast. I can imagine that it made for a great start for your trip.

OK, now I will be able to sleep tonite...

hey lighttech!!!
just got home last night and couldn't wait to check the boards!
LOVING your TR and your little man is too cute!
really great that you got dream fastpasses!
can't wait to hear more!!

I just read your tr, going great. I can't wait to read more. I want a dream fastpass, We never get anything. I can only dream. Your ds is so cute.

I'm jealous you got a gift from the dream team! That last picture of your son with the dream team CMs is so cute. :cutie:

After the excitement of the Dream Fastpass, we needed some substance, so we went over to Liberty Square and got a CS meal. Chicken, Fish and fries along w/ drinks and apple crisp. WAY more food than we ever eat for lunch... Especially at the parks. (I'm never hungry during the day, then I'm starving at night. :confused3 ) There was more than enough food to share w/ DS, so we saved a little there.

After lunch, we headed back down the way to Frontierland for the Woody's Cowboy Camp parade. DS (along w/ most of the other kids) was asked to participate by riding a wooden stick horse. He was reluctant, and I never push him into things, but I knew he'd have a great time. So, after a little suggesting, he went for it. (The CM who took charge of him was SO sweet. I wish I'd gotten her name so I could post it for CM thanks.) DS was by far the youngest, and was so overwhelmed that he stood still in the middle of the circle while all the other kids played "follow the leader." Then, he continued standing and staring while they put the stick horses away, and Woody danced with him! (Toy Story is his FAVORITE). The look of joy and amazement on his face was worth the entire trip. I almost cried. I could have gone home then and felt we got our money's worth. This was one of the highlights of his trip and he talked about it non-stop.

After the parade, we wandered and did a few rides. We took it kind of slow for DS's sake. We hit futureland, but the Buzz ride was shut down. Did SM and the Monsters Laugh Floor, where we had another suprise. DS and I got highlighted during one of the stand up routines. DS (for once) didn't play shy and said his name and where we were from and laughed and said "NOOooo" when the monsters claimed our home town was where the Eiffel Tower was. He thought it was a hoot to see himself on the "big giant TV."

Then it was off to Main Street for DS's first "real" haircut. (Up until then I'd always done it. This was a fantastic experience. He loved the haircut and the CMs were so good with him.

TIP: For a fairly low price ($14?) you can get your little one's first haircut there. You get a great cut, a certificate that says "Baby's First Haircut" and Mouse Ears that say the same on the back.

I have pics from this which I will post later... Lunchbreak is over.

Can't wait until pics are posted. I bet they are adorable. So neat about Woody and DS. That's why we go right? I have plenty of memories from my childhood and I hope I have passed some onto my family. Anticipation of what else went on.popcorn:: TR help me get through cold, winter days.

That picture of your little boy getting his fast pass is so cute! That little grin!

Its so neat to hear about going to the World with a little guy. Your first day and already so much magic! Just to watch him make so many special memories is priceless.

I was actually afraid I'd be on the big screen at the Monster's show. Glad to hear your little guy had a better attitude about it than I would.

Keep going! We're waiting!

Hey lighttech!

I just realized that although I've subscribed to your TR and have been reading it, I've never told you what a great job you're doing. I'm enjoying reading about your little boys first trip and seeing the pics. He is so cute.
Keep up the good work, can't wait to read more.:thumbsup2

LOVE the added photos. I was glancing back at you TR. What are the paintbrushes at TSI? Never heard of this.

I love your tr so far. It is so cute. Your son is so cute. Did he love his hair cut?

He did. (Of course, we kept telling him he was SO handsome. So, it might have been all the lavished attention.)
They do a great job there. Up till now, I've always cut his hair, and he's very good about it, but doesn't particularly like it. He still talks about how fun it was getting his hair cut at "Mickey's barber."

After the haircut, we hit a few more rides, and it was just about time for our ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern. The Christmas decorations were very pretty, the food was excellent and DS loved his first big encounter with a lot of characters. A side note about how wonderful the CM's can be. I was having trouble with my camera and was just about devastated that at our first character ADR on our first day just before MVMCP I was not going to be able to take pictures. The CM serving us must have seen how upset I was, b/c she kept offering to help in any way she could. She charged our video camera for us at the wait station so we'd have that, she made sure we knew we could stay a little longer since we'd missed our first opportunity for pictures with a few characters, and then, even after we'd figured out we probably had a bad batch of batteries (I will NEVER buy Rayovac again no matter how low the price) she still came back and GAVE us a disposable camera so we would be sure we wouldn't miss any special memories. I actually started to cry a little b/c it was so sweet. (I made sure I waited to talk to the manager and tell her how special our CM made our dinner.)

As we left LTT, we caught some of Wishes and it was pretty neat walking right out into them. Not a bad place for viewing either. You don't see everything, but its also not as crowded.

Then, we made our way to the front of the park and got our wristbands for MVMCP. I was SO excited! I've always wanted to see Christmas at the parks. We rode a bunch of rides w/ the shorter lines. (Mostly DS's speed... Pooh, Small World, Peter Pan.) And got a few good photo ops. We decided to try HM with DS, and told him he could just cover his eyes if he didn't like anything. He did this a few times, then buried his face in my lap. After a few seconds of reassuring him it was just pretend, I realized he was ASLEEP! :rotfl: We carried him off the ride and put him in his stroller and enjoyed a nice leisurely walk around the park sipping hot chocolate and eating cookies and letting DS rest. He slept straight through the second "Christmas" version of Wishes. (I couldn't believe it, it was so loud!)

Then, we woke him up to see the Holiday parade. He was enthralled, and so was I.

We were going to head home, but noticed the crowds were moving out fast and heavy, so we asked DS if he would like to do one more ride. We headed back to Aladdin's Carpets, and guess who was on the ride in the car in front of us. Aladdin and Jasmine!!! We weren't able to ride with them, but it was still cool. And, Aladdin was so nice. As we got off, DH asked if DS could get a picture, but Aladdin and Jasmine were being pretty sternly directed that they had to go. Aladdin said sorry and started to walk off, then turned on his heel, ran back and gave DS a high five. He obviously couldn't stay for a pic, but closed out DSs night (and ours) on a real high note.

As I said, a magical day all around. We really felt blessed to have had so many fantastic things happen and to have had such a great beginning to our vacation.

We slept in a little after 2 semi late nights, grabbed a quick breakfast at the hotel caf and headed to MGM. We weren't sure if we'd spend the whole day there or not.

DS was again very excited by the bus ride and couldn't wait to get wherever we were going. We didn't have much of a plan for MGM and took it sort of leisurely. Got some FP for TOT and then headed to the back of the park. We got to see Lighting McQueen and Tow Mater drive down the lot street and then got in line for pics and autographs. DS was totally amazed. Photo ops were priceless and DS had his "I Love Trucks" shirt and his HotWheels sunglasses.

Then it was off to Buzz and Woody. Toy Story is DS's favorite, so he was thrilled. He asked Buzz where his batteries were and told him he sure thought his rocketship was pretty cool. (So, I guess this "Rocketship Sandwich" is actually a club sandwich w/ a rocketship in the middle too.)

He asked Woody if he remembered dancing w/ him in the parade the day before, and of course Woody did. He's got such a good memory. :upsidedow Then, just as we were about to walk away, DS got very excited, ran over to the Woody poster on the wall of Al's Toy Barn and exclaimed w/ amazement "Woody!!! That's a picture of YOU!!!" Woody, bless his heart, acted appropriately amazed and excited too, and we went on our way.

Then it was lunch at Pizza Planet which DS refused to eat b/c he was too excited.

TIP: Pizza Planet is another great deal on the CS dining plan. Pizza, salad, mickey ears marshmallow krispy treat and a drink.

More later.... and I'll add some pics too.

This has made my morning. Hearing the comments from your DS are priceless. I love being reminded how children see the world. So wonderful that the CM gave you a disposable camera. Adorable that DS fell asleep on HM. Way to go Aladdin for making an effort to make a moment for your DS. Love your DS's comments about Buzz and Woody. This TR will help you keep those memories also. Merry Christmas.:santa:

Thanks Schmu. You're a wonderful supporter. I plan on printing the trip report when I'm done and keeping it with all our other memories from the trip. I don't plan on forgetting a minute of it.

i'm really enjoying your tr!! can't wait to see pictures too.
what a cutie your son is!
