Ok....I know alot of people didnt really care for the Rocket Rods but I abosolutey LOVE them. Any one know if they are comming back at all? If so any clue on a timeline? Keeping fingers crossed!
During our "Walking in Walt's Footsteps" tour this weekend. Our Disney Host informed us that Rocket Rods would not be returning and the announcement was made in April. He did not indicate in safety problems, but that they could not move guest through the ride quickly, loading and unloading took too long and the queuing would always be around 2 hours.
I agree with you I liked Rocket Rods, I had only been on once and waited over 2 hours in line for that one time.
Though Buzz would seem the best I don't think they've fully decided what to do other then announce that Rocket Rods is dead, though I think most knew this when it closed last time.
"Dig this intriguing concept for a potential Rocket Rods replacement:
Here's some interesting Disneyland information that rather strangely involves the French division of Imagineering. It seems a group of Imagineers from Disneyland Paris have been looking closely at the Les Espions de Cesar ride in Paris' charming Parc Asterix. Les Espions de Cesar is, of course, a fun little ride that puts several persons in foot-powered cars that ride along an elevated track. They're rather like elaborately themed bicycles in the air, but are in fact very popular with Asterix visitors.
Now for the Disneyland connection: One prominent idea being considered for the replacement of the now ceased Rocket Rods is a ride highly similar to Asterix's Les Espions de Cesar, in which visitors take a leisurely ride in foot-powered "airship" vehicles themed in a "Verne" style I have been told. Disneyland Paris Imagineers have done thorough research on such a ride, and have sent the results to California Imagineering, where bigwig Tony Baxter is apparently in love with the idea and pushing it greatly for development as the Rods replacement. No word yet on what will actually happen, though. "
To support the rumor(if that is possible) that Buzz Lightyear is coming to the now debunked Rocket Rods location. I have heard that the Tomorrowland Terrace is going to close and reopen as Buzz Lightyears food mall or court. More to come.
Too bad the rocket rods are closing.
I've only been to Disneyland once and when I went they were closed down. I was looking forward to riding them during my next trip
Goofster57, interesting rumor... TT has been there so long I never thought it would change. Of course they could change the menu a bit and I wouldn't complain
Buzz Lightyear is now my wife's favorite ride, but I always end up sore thumbs... we can't figure out how they could put buzz lightyear on the people mover track?
Don't get me wrong, I love buzz, I just can't picture it....
