Rocket Launch

Can anyone tell me anything about upcoming rocket launches? I thought I read somewhere about there being one in December sometime.

My Dad, DH and Nephew are planning to visit KSC. Is it recommended that this be done on the day of a launch or should they avoid this?

There is a shuttle launch scheduled (that's the key word) for December 6 at 4:30 PM. It may or may not take place as scheduled due to weather delays, equipment problems, etc.

As a local, I would avoid KSC the day of the launch.

There are many places along the river or beach areas near Titusville and/or Cocoa Beach to watch the launch. That said, they will be crowded and traffic back to Orlando will, probably, be awful.

Living here, I just watch the shuttles/rockets from my front stoop. I can't see the actual liftoff, but can see them soon after they are airborne.

If your family can see the launch, it is worth it.

There's a rocket launch scheduled for Dec 10. Above is a link to a website that has lots of good info. The owner of the site posts lots of info here about the launches.

I'm pretty sure you can't get IN to KSC on a launch day though, they close the tours and stuff. So, you can go view it somewhere, but the rest will be closed.

I know this is true for shuttle launches, not sure if it's also true for rocket launches as well.

Thanks for the information everyone. Dh is very excited. Its really something they would like to see as its not something you get over here. Something not to be missed I think.
