Rock 'n Roller Coaster may not be featuring Aerosmith

I hope its not true that they dont get rid of Aerosmith. I would be totally sad about this. Its by far one of the best rides there.

I've heard this before. Rumors... They just say this to scare you I guess. If it ever does change who it features, I will never return to that ride

Think about it. Has Disney done a new attraction in the last 10 years without pushing a Disney character or franchise? There is no way they will use an outside band they have to pay for. They want to sell Disney merchandise, not Aerosmith CDs. It will be Hanna Montana, Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez or someone on their label. Count on it!

This argument doesn't wash at all...as Disney has not created any (at least permanent) attraction based on ANY of it's "home grown" Disney Channel/Radio/record label talents. Probably because they know they are more ephemeral than anything else.

How about the American Idol Experience at Walt Disney World? It's based on a show that's neither produced nor broadcast by Disney/ABC.

American Idol was created by and is executive-produced by Simon Fuller, founder of 19 Entertainment. The show is broadcast on Fox Network.

It's been the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith since it opened July 29, 1999, which is more than 11 years ago. There is absolutely no evidence that Aerosmith is being booted from the attraction.

I think the rumor started with speculation that Disney's original contract with Aerosmith might only be for 10 years, because many corporate sponsorships are only for 10 years. (Of course, we're not dealing with a corporate sponsorship here.) So for the past year or two, fans have speculated on who might replace Aerosmith.

Meanwhile, this rumor thread keeps jumping to the top on this forum (and I've just made it do so again).

Problem is that I have heard that since Simon is gone, this will be the last year for AI. Also AI is Pop not Rock.

It will be

Hanna Montana - Since the show is no more its now a dead franchise. Also Miley is going to run as fast as possible away from the character so she can "Grow up" .

Jonas Brothers - Like all other Disney manufactured Pop Stars maybe two more years of fame. Paint will barely be dry.

Selena Gomez - Who????:confused3

Count on it!

Don't think so.:thumbsup2

I'm not sure what point you're making about my post.

I replied to PortMickey's, who suggested that the answer is no to the question of whether "Disney [has] done a new attraction in the last 10 years without pushing a Disney character or franchise." In fact, the answer is yes.

Sure, there's speculation about how much longer American Idol will be on the air. The American Idol Experience attraction at Walt Disney World will remain open as long as guests fill the seats and enjoy it. The attraction could outlast the show. The show could outlast the attraction.

But I don't see how any of this invalidates my reply to PortMickey (or why it matters for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith that American Idol is "Pop not Rock").

I think once the TV show is gone, the interest in it will also be gone. Also if the show is gone the DHS AI show will be soon gone.

I have never seen the DHS show but will they get the same number of people auditioning if there is nothing to audition for?

Also my pop reference is to the fact that AI has never had a Rock Star winner. Chris (already forgot his name) was the closest they have ever had. By my non expert tally they have had one Gospel, one country and the rest pop.

So if they wanted to use a Pop Star from AI they would have to rename it the Pop n Roller Coaster. :rotfl: Sounds like a breakfast food. :lmao:

Nobody is suggesting that an American Idol winner will replace Aerosmith in Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.

The only reason I brought up the American Idol Experience was to address PortMickey's comments.

Again, there is no credible evidence of imminent plans to remove Aerosmith from Rock 'n' Roller Coaster.

Ok sorry I went back I mis-read your post.:guilty: I've had a long day that started yesterday afternoon.

But that won't keep this thread from dying. Maybe I should bring up one of the taboo topics and get this thing closed. :)

I like the idea of using Kiss - I might even like to see the Rolling Stones used - what about featuring a mash of all the decades of Rock N' Roll? you could wait in the que line and then they introduce the ride's featured band - it could be a surprise every time!

I still like the Muppets idea. Dr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem would be awesome. Seeing Animal wailing away on the drums would make my day. Too bad the coaster isn't next to Muppet land....

I soooo agree with you Mickman! I would be very disappointed if the band changed.

Our trip is in 4 weeks, and I am so looking forward to the RnR.

The only "home run" is aligning with a timeless band/singer. If Aerosmith qualifies, then keep it. If not, consider a band or singer that people will still be conscious of 20 years from now. I am not a fan of KISS, but they come to mind. Their music isn't timeless, but their image and contribution to rock overall is. In fact, they would have been a better choice from the start just from a visual perspective. Aerosmith is one of rock's all time great bands, so finding a more suitable band won't be easy.

At some point, perhaps it will be necessary to rework the queuing area and make it like you are stepping back in time. It won't make sense to see the Aerosmith guys at age 50 when they are 75, unless they redo the video to make it look like you were sent back in time. That would be easy to do.
