Rock 'n Roller Coaster may not be featuring Aerosmith

I would say not solely because of these shows, but certainly due to the help of shows like this, we cannot but help to avoid being more cynical as a society. I am sure I would laugh at a few scenes/episodes of these shows myself, but I do feel a danger when shows like this become so mainstream.
If Hannah and Suite Life are sarcastic as well, then where did it start? I could say that SP and shows like FG have "something" to do with it....
I agree with you, I would no say there is any evidence to prove a link to this, I just fear that when you cut corners, such as with shows like these, then there are others just waiting in the wings to go even further. I am just of the opinion that there has to be some limits at least somewhere.
I am not attacking you, by the way, it's just a matter of taste and opinion that's all. Peace.

Just for my 2 cents, I think many would argue that the cynicism and sarcasm in entertainment and media began rising after Watergate. Watergate did have a pronounced impact on the public mindset of this country, changing it forever... much like the Kennedy Assassination, 9-11, etc.

Of course, looking back at old polls about School age kids, rude, lippy behavior has been a constant complaint since at least the 50's, which is when the polling first started. I still think every adult generation feels the upcoming generation is worse behaved than they were. There is a part of me that feels that way with the people 10 years younger than me that are graduating college... we won't go into that, but regardless, I can understand your position... I just don't think the media has that much of an effect on sarcastic behavior and I haven't seen any studies to really back up that hypothesis.

And I know you aren't attacking me personally, no worries. I just always hate when people blame media for it. IMHO, bad parenting is at the root of it.. Even if your hypothesis was correct about shows such as that having a causal link, why aren't the parents involved more to explain the content of the show or prevent the child from watching them.

I've enjoyed the conversation.

Sorry, I fell asleep during the rants.

Are we back to talking about Aerosmith's Rock 'N Roller Coaster yet?

Let me know.

 No Rants just slightly off topic discussions... ;-)

I'm guessing if Aerosmith isn't re signed then it will be a made up band with music disney owns the royalties too in the limo.

Dawn, we still NEED to see those shirtless Jon Bon Jovi pics!!! :rotfl::rotfl:

I'm not sure replacing one band with a history of disfunction with the kings of band disfunction is a good idea. Plus do you go with the Good Early Roth Years, the mediocre Hagar years or the fading incarnation with the return of Roth but the ho-hum Wolfgang Van Halen (Replacing Anthony) and an Eddie who just doesn't have the chops he used to (He's still REALLY good, just not what he was 20 years ago, IMHO, which is to be expected given his age.)

I agree 100% with everything you said in this post. I was thinking the original Van Halen line up, but maybe VH is not a good replacement after all!

I'm sure their decision will be based on 1) Tyler completing Rehab and 2) The band keeping Tyler. If Steven leaves, say good bye to Aerosmith... Very few bands can pull off losing the face of the band and survive.... I mean the Stones without Mick (or Keith), Van Halen without Roth was always Meh. Really the only two, IMHO to pull it off were Pink Floyd going from Waters to Gilmore (Pulse was AMAZING) and AC/DC (which to me always felt like two different bands, but both very good... plus Bon Scott died and didn't leave).

Iron Maiden did pretty good when they replaced Paul Di'Anno.

I'm telling you...USE THE MUPPETS!

They are pushing them back into the public eye already with the YouTube channel "Muppet Studios", why not place Mr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem as the band!

The themeing would be perfect for the indoor rollercoaster and no more contracts since they OWN the rights to the Muppets.

USE the assets you bought from Henson's company Disney! Use them!

The Muppets.... I like how you think!!!

The only problem with the muppets idea is location, if they weren't completely across the park from each other it could work.

Please tell me this "executive CM" was someone at Corporate, not in the parks, otherwise, it's no better then a bus driver rumor.

My manager at a Resort knew about the Star Tours 2.0 long before it was announced. She had connections in Imagineering.

Star Tours 2.0 was actually announced a long time ago. But they didn't DO anything for several years, and it looked like it was just another broken promise...

An updated Star Tours attraction had actually been talked about since the mid 1990's and has had a loooong, sloooow progression ever since

ZOMG! I would love if they changed the featured band to Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem! I tell you what, the only Aerosmith song I actively like (as opposed to "meh, this is okay") is "Walk this Way." Why?

Because parts of it sound to my ears like parts of "Can You Picture That" from the Muppet Movie! :rotfl:

Bon Jovi

Listen, Jon Bon Jovi has to be a Disney fan to some degree -- the last time I stayed at Disney's Vero Beach resort he and his family were guests as well.

If they are going to re-theme, I think Bon Jovi would be a great choice for the band they use. :woohoo: Bon Jovi is very family friendly, how many songs do they have that you have to bleep out the words? NONE. They were the first concert I took my kids too, we have seen them a few times since. I have seen a few suggestions about Kiss, they would work too. :thumbsup2 The glam rock would fit right in, and Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons would eat this up. The only band I have seen mentioned that I would disagree with is U2. They are either a love 'em or hate 'em band. I have never been a big fan.:crazy2:

Muppets, I don't know. Riding the coaster with the music of Aerosmith, Bon Jovi or another rock band pounding in my ears is part of the appeal. I don't know if Dr. Teeth and Electric Mayhem will do the job.:confused3

Queen would be awesome, but I think the Chilli Peppers would be the best. U2 is signed to Universal as someone already mentioned earlier, so I don't think we would have much luck there sadly...

We just got back from an eight day trip to WDW. While chatting it up with a CM she offered up that she is sad that they are re-theming Rock and Roller coaster to the Disney owned Jonas Brothers and Hanna Montana!:scared1:

She said they already started to make changes and they expect to be complete by the same time next year (May 2011).

I did a little checking on the theming and found some unwelcome changes. The first posters you see when you come in the Standby line are Hanna Montana and Thats so Raven!

Then I noticed this booth setup outside of RnR Coaster. Radio Disney, Hanna Montana and all the pre-teen stuff.

The entire time we were in the area there was only one kid sitting at the booth looking at the activities.

A good example of how re-theming would be bad.... We were in standby line and there was a group of adults and kids speaking only Italian. The guys in the group sang the words to every song that played over the speakers while waiting. Do you think adults will fly in from Italy to sing the Jonas Brothers?

Those posters have been there at least a year, probably 2. They were advertising some of Disney's musical acts - yes, even Raven released some CDs.

Yes and since the attraction is themed where you enter a recording company and then into the studio it is perfectly normal to see pictures of other recording groups etc.

Its a way for Disney to theme the scene of a recording studio without getting involved with negotiations/royalties of people not signed with them.

RNR with Aerosmith probably isn't going to change anytime soon. I believe this Rumor was started due to the 10 year anniversary of the ride in 2009. CM's like to torment guests from time to time and what better way to torment a guest who is wearing a heavy metal or rock T-Shirt than to say their ride is being changed to something like Miley, Jonus Bros etc etc.

A 10 year contract would have been re-negotiated quite some time before the expiration of the original one, Disney wouldn't risk closing a signature attraction during a peak period of the year with very little notice for something like a contract deal.

Will it ever change?, Quite possibly it will one day it will however at this time I believe RNR with Aerosmith is staying where it is.
