Rock 'n Roller Coaster may not be featuring Aerosmith

It seems to me like they wouldn't want to use a performer like Hannah Montana or the Jonas Brothers because they would need an established band to be sure they wouldn't have to retheme it again in five years. Teenybopper pop groups don't typically stay popular for very long.

I know rumors have circulated around about this, but got confirmation of situation by executive CM. Basically, Disney has not yet renewed the contract with Aerosmith to keep them as the feature of RnR. And, as many of you know, the band is on-again off-again. Steven Tyler fell off the wagon (and stage) this summer and then band members hinted that he was going his own way. Then, he came out with the band to say they are not breaking up to say later that he wants to market "brand Tyler" in a different manner and suggested again they may be going kaput as a group.

The CM obviously had minimal detail other than that he confirmed the possibility that the band may not renew depending on Tyler's actions (I'm assuming he would have to agree with the others in renewing the contract).

Then, I got to thinking about the ride and looking at how it's designed. If Aerosmith didn't renew, it wouldn't be too hard to change the ride. On the facade remove the "featuring Aerosmith" off the guitar and take down the poster of them. Re-do the whole line queue presentation and re-do the story line. Then, change the soundtrack. What really got me to thinking, though, would be which band or bands would be a suitable replacement. Personally, I think KISS would be an excellent change out. Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons own the rights to the band and would gladly sign off on this one. They could really incorporate some cool new effects into the ride and the soundtrack would be pretty sweet. At first I thought some people may object to this due to the KISS image of the past not being too "family friendly", but look at Aerosmith and the past drug use and some lyrics of the band.

Either way, they can finally remove the lewd gesture by Steven Tyler in the pre-show as well as the line telling the person to grab his guitar... they used to have a cast member pick it up and walk out with it... one of those little details that added so much that are now strangely absent.

It has to do with Hollywood, part of the name change to Hollywood Studios....like American Idol, it also has nothing to do with movies

Oh no... Please god don't let it be an American Idol themed ride.... getting them to the hall for the American Idol losers tour.... PLEASE NO!!!

Hollywood is synonymous with the entertainment industry -- movies, television, music, radio, and the myriad of technical services that support the entertainment industry.

The Capitol Records building is an iconic landmark of Hollywood.

The old Charlie Chaplin Studios at the corner of La Brea and Sunset has been a movie studio, television studio, and music production facility. Chaplin sold the studio in 1957. The facility changed owners several times since then. Red Skelton filmed his classic CBS television series there. Then, for several decades, it was home of A&M Records. Now it's The Jim Henson Company.

Having a recording studio at Disney's Hollywood Studios makes complete sense.

What doesn't make sense is the design. It just doesn't fit in with the rest of Sunset Boulevard. The era is wrong. The architectural detail is wrong. The signage is out-of-place in the environment of Sunset Boulevard.

Plus you put two of your most popular attractions in the same area as well as your night time Spectacular, leading to a really bad situation when all three collide.

Agree with you, it was a terrible choice. They should have killed the Backlot tour and but it there or maybe put it in the giant HAT :-D

So basically the CM confirmed that Aerosmith may or may not renew their contract. That's like confirming UFO's may or may not exist.

Maybe, but the logic makes sense given Tylers flakiness as of late, plus his rehab stint. I could believe it easily.

I'm betting they don't replace with a Name band. They use a fictional band instead and just use several songs by Disney artists like Jonas, etc since we are just listening to the radio

I'm telling you...USE THE MUPPETS!

They are pushing them back into the public eye already with the YouTube channel "Muppet Studios", why not place Mr Teeth and the Electric Mayhem as the band!

The themeing would be perfect for the indoor rollercoaster and no more contracts since they OWN the rights to the Muppets.

USE the assets you bought from Henson's company Disney! Use them!

DUDE... Heck of an idea... especially with the new movie coming out in the next few years. I mean the Muppets Bohemian Rhapsody was fantastic... Animal saying MAMA had me rolling. And Beakers ode to joy...

I will take LA for $1000, Alex. I wonder if that is near Hollywood?

For country I will take Nashville.

For Blues I will take KC and Memphis.

Chicago for Blues as well...

New Orleans for Jazz....

Of course music is part of this... By saying all you are reminded of is movies, then we should kill any TV themed stuff as well.

Four Little Words...

RED....

HOT....

CHILI....

PEPPERS....

Not only one of the top bands of all time, but what current act is more quintessentially LA than the Peppers. Heck, Dani California, Californication, etc.

My vote is for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. They are from Hollywood and they have a great song for the soundtrack... cover of Stevie Wonder's Love Roller Coaster.

Totally agree Yitbos...

I would U2 myself but mostly because I am not a RHCP fan

maybe they should just do the Beatles and drag those British Invasion guys over from Epcot

U2:
Just play these songs and imagine how it would sound on a roller coaster
Vertigo, Elevation, Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me, Mysterious Ways, Even Better Than the Real Thing, Magnificent.....would make for a killer experience.

Never been a U2 fan... I like a few songs, but other than that, never understood the hype.

Plus I can't think of U2 without thinking of the South Park episode that's a parody of King of Kong... "How could Bono be so talented, so caring, and yet seem like such a piece of ****? Because he is ****. Don't you get it? Bono is not the record holder..."

Man that's a funny episode. And now everytime I see or hear U2, that's all I can ever think of.

That's unfortunate then that someone's narrow minded view of the band becomes your broad minded view.

Bon Jovi

Listen, Jon Bon Jovi has to be a Disney fan to some degree -- the last time I stayed at Disney's Vero Beach resort he and his family were guests as well.:

He was at AKL in November this year!! A CM pointed him out and by the time I got my camera out, he was down the hall :(

Yeah Bono is brilliant.

Everyone should pay their taxes and forgive third world dept, except U2.
We’re going to pay our taxes in a country with a lower tax rate and screw Ireland.

He's a real hero.

this one is always funny.....always the last resort argument from a hater.

I still vote Muppets by the way......

I do like the Chili Peppers...lots of hits..totally Hollywood, songs that are perfect for a roller coaster. but didn't the guitarist just leave the band? I heard they are moving on without him, though. He is a great guitarist so sad to see him leave.
