I keep going back and forth on whether or not I want to ride RnR on my next trip to Disney this fall. I'm such a chicken but I managed to ride everything but RnR on my last trip. Big Thunder Mountain used to be the biggest ride I'd do, lol, but last trip I finally got the courage to do Space Mountain, Expedition Everest, and even Tower of Terror. Tower of Terror is the only one that I don't think I would do again. Not that it was horrible and traumatic. I was able to have fun since I was on it with my friend. And I sure felt accomplished after I got off! But, I just don't really enjoy big drops. I had never screamed so much on a ride until then. :rotfl: I am so happy that I did it, but I think once is enough. :) Space Mountain and Everest were both fun and I would ride both of those again. But Everest did get my heart pumping and made me scream a lot too! I loved it and would do it again, but I feel like it's my "limit" when it comes to roller coasters. Which is why I'm wondering how much more intense RnR coaster is. I've heard some people say it's about the same thrill level as Everest, some who say that it's more intense, and some who even think Everest is actually the more intense of the two (I guess because some people find the backwards part very intense - I definitely did! That was the part that made me scream the most haha). The inversions are what makes me the most nervous about RnR, as I have never ridden any roller coaster that goes upside down so it's just a fear of the unknown. Outside of Disney, the only coasters I have ridden are kiddie ones and some of the bigger wooden ones, but again, nothing too extreme and nothing with inversions. The launch on RnR makes me a bit nervous too because some people say it's so intense. I'm generally not bothered by speed in general (I love Test Track, and one of the wooden coasters I've ridden, which is "Thunderhead" at Dollywood, goes about as fast as RnR) but I've never ridden anything that launches you to a high speed like that in just a few seconds.

So, basically, what I'm asking is, if Everest is my "limit" for roller coaster thrills, would I do okay on RnR coaster or do you think it will be too much for me?

Honestly, I'm glad I went on it! I was a big chicken and refused to go on either Everest or Rockin' on one trip. Next trip, I was feeling a little more brave and I'm so glad I was! I ended up going on it three times. I even put my hands up when it launched the second time.

Based on how you described your reactions, it sounds like you're ready to me!

The worst part is waiting for the train to launch. As the rest if the track is in the dark you don't really know what direction you're going in, which is a good thing as can't worry about it then!

IMO R n R is not more intense than EE. There are inversions and cork screws but the ride feels more like flying to me - it is a very enjoyable roller coaster - smooth. I love R n R but really don't enjoy space mountain that much - space is a little jerky IMO. I also love EE.

Anyway - at least you can try it to see if you'd want to ride again. If you ride EE, I think R n R would be just fine to try. Have fun!:)

RnR is much more intense IMO. It depends whether you can handle numerous loops and the take off at the beginning.

That said, my OH will ride RnR but won't touch EE because he hates dropping or going backwards - RnR doesn't do either. The drops are pretty small.

I am somewhat of a wimp when it comes to roller coasters. I don't like big drops because I can't stand the feeling of losing my stomach. I was nervous about Expedition Everest but actually really enjoyed riding it. My husband encouraged me to try RNR so I did. But I do not think I would go on it again. Mainly because of the launch. It was so fast, I had that feeling in my stomach that happens on big drops. And I hate that! After we took off, the ride was so much fun, but the launch was so much, I don think I'd do it again.

I'd put them on a similar level as far as intensity. RnR is in the dark and it has loops but it's really smooth. EE's backwards part is the scariest part to me and having the first initial climb that goes up so high gives me the "What did I just agree to ride?" feeling even though I've done it lots.

Having done both and loving Roller Coasters I would tend to say R&R is more intense. Even though its smooth and in the dark you do go very fast, upside down and through a cork screw. EE you do feel the drops more. That being said I would ride R&R everyday if I could
I would say go for it get a fp or ride first thing in the morning so you don't have a long line and don't have to overthink it. Ride in the middle the first time and you can always close you eyes, oh and dont forget to hang on tight

The 1st inversions on RnR are pointless because its so dark you don't realize you are going upside down...it's the same "feeling" as the backwards part of EE (that kinda feels like you are going upside down)

I guess RnRC is more intense than EE, but it's actually a different experience. That initial launch on RnRC takes my breath away, literally, every time. It's fun and the photo is hilarious, but it's pretty intense. The inversions are not bad, but I've found that if I don't concentrate on pinning my head back to the seat, it bangs around on the chest bars and my ears hurt after.

EE has that initial hill and the quick backwards part, and that's basically it. I've done EE several times in a row, but probably wouldn't do the same on RnRC.

IMO the launch wouldn't bother you if you don't mind speed. Just keep your head against the back as it takes off
For me though coasters that are new and smooth have no effect on me. It's the older ones that are not smooth that "bother" me
So with that said I could tell you coasters that I wouldn't recommend for a first timer and rrc isn't one of them

Ps even though it is dark, there are lit signs and the music clues you in to inversions too

RnR still gives me a rush, and I've been riding since it opened. I think you should try it once. But ride as close to the front as you can - the farther back you sit the rougher it is. EE is completely different due to the slower takeoff.

I think it's the other way around! EE to us is VERYYYY intense!

I would say RnR is more intense simply because of the take-off. As a previous poster mentioned it takes my breath away for a few seconds every time! Aside from that the rest is very smooth and because it is dark the inversions just sort of happen because you can't see them coming.

My mom is not a thrill ride fan, but has ridden everything at Disney at least once, except Mission Space...we're all too chicken for that! After trying everything once, she will ride ToT more than once, EE is a one time per trip thing for her, and she will not go on RnR again. While I enjoy SM, we don't ride that anymore, because my mom thinks its too rough and being 6'5" my dad doesn't fit in the car very well!

If you are second guessing it, my advice would be do like my mom and at least try it once...you might find you like it!

I don't like big drops, but I like corkscrews and loops. My husband does not like big drops, and will not do inversions in an outdoor roller coaster. We both really like RnR. It's hard to even tell that you are going upside down because it is dark and fast.

My advice to anyone riding RnR is to try to hold your head back against the head rest, and if you have earrings on that could possibly fall out, take them off before riding. I find that my head bounces around on that ride a lot, and once I had an earring fall out. Although I like it, I can only ride it a couple of times before I start to feel beaten up.

I think RnR is more "intense" just speed wise. I'd try it - especially if you love rock music! I took a friend of mine that was cursing me all the way (she hates coasters) and she was scared of the inversions. Getting off she said - can we do it again and I though you said we went upside down!.

Worth a shot - if you can do ToT you can handle this.

Get past the start and there's not much to it. Very smooth, you don't get shaken around. IMO, the second best attraction in all of Disney. It so smooth that we really don't notice the inversions.

I agree with what other people have said. Firstly, I would give it a go. If you don't like it you don't have to ever go on it again! (That's how I was with TOT and now I LOVE it!)

The start is intense, you get pushed back in your seat but it only lasts a few seconds and that's it. Like some others have said, it's in the dark so you don't see where you are going and it's smooth. To be honest, after the launch and the loop, it's just like a normal coaster.

Give it a go :thumbsup2

IMO EE I've way more intense and much longer and drawn out than RnR

If big drops are what freak you out, don't worry at all about RnR. If you've never done an inversion or a corkscrew, they look WAY scarier than they feel. It's nothing like the feeling of dropping.

For some perspective, my husband does not do big rollercoasters. I can't get him on Tower of Terror and he hates big drops. But RnR is one of his absolute favorite rides at WDW. Give it a shot!
