My family is trying to persuade me to ride Rock n Roll coaster with them on our upcoming trip. Problem is, roller coasters terrify me. I am able to ride Thunder Mountain Railroad, and actually enjoy it, because it basically just throws you around a little and has no big drops :thumbsup2 How does thunder mountain compare to rnr coaster? I know you turn upside down, which does not have me too excited! But, are there any significant drops that would cause me problems? Thanks for your help. I am going to try and not be a "chicken", so any feedback is appreciated!

No big drops on RNR. I loved it, the upside down was a fun corkscrew not a huge loop. It is fast and fun and would be a great starter upside down coaster. Trying to get my older sons to ride this summer...

I'm a big coaster fan and member of ACE (American Coaster Enthusiasts). I would say don't go on RNR. It is quite intense if you are not a coaster fan. There are 6 inversions, and you are propelled 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds. While I find it to be rather tame by my standards, I certainly see why people avoid this ride.

Stick with BRMRR or SM, RNR is a higher level ride.

I personally love it, but it could be a bit more intense. But I also miss Drachenfire at Busch Gardens, Williamsburg.

The main tricks to the RNRC are at the very beginning. The ride starts off shooting you into the room very fast. I was a little scared before this happened, but once it started, it was fun! It seemed like we went at least 100 yards before anything happened except going straight forward pretty fast. Then, the corkscrew happens. Other than this, it is comparable to DL's Space Mountain. No big drops. Once you are passed the quick start followed by the corkscrew, the worst (or best) is behind you. The only other challenge might be that it is rather dark in some spots, but not as much as Space Mountain.

Rock'n Roller Coaster makes Big Thunder Mountain have accidents. No comparison at all. But it's the best roller coaster I have ever been on. In fact, I hated roller coasters until I was talked into riding it... now I'm a coaster fanatic.

But whether or not you should ride it is up to you. It's fun, but intense.

I agree with this.

My DW and I ride every other attraction at WDW, but she will no longer ride RnRC.
It can be very rough as it tosses your head against the shoulder restraints.
I ride it once every trip and love the first "launch" (which is very smooth and FAST), but there are many points when the car turns quickly and I bounce my head against the shoulder restraint (rubberized but still HARD).
I'm tall and can handle it without much "damage", but my DW is 5'2" and her head can get pretty banged around inside the restraint.

We even love the "California Screamin'" loop-coaster at DCA in California (which has the same "instant launch" system as RnRC) but it has no fast "side-to-side" jumps and so does not "bang us around" in the restraints.

I'm a coaster chicken. Our son finally talked me into riding RNR. Wow! Just be ready for the fast take off by holding on and you will love it. It is very smooth and there are no big drops. Be sure and pull the overhead restraint down snugly so you don't move much and you will feel more secure. Have fun!

RNR is the only roller coaster that I ride. I do not like big drops either and there definitely are not any on RNR. The first time I was "talked" into riding it I got a little nervous when I saw the cars take off. Once I was on it I loved it!

you get more of a sensation of speed than big drops imo..it's dark so you are not looking at a vast area between you and the ground like on a coaster hill( my "pitfall" is how far i would fall if the car failed on coasters and that doesn't happen due to the dark in rnr). it's fun and imo not very scary. the take off is fun but very fast and i messed up my previously messed up back cause the first time i rode it i didn't have my head back against the head rest. once i did that it was fine. it is faster than space mountain but basically the same sort of "thrill" if you have ever ridden that and imo the inversion is so fast you hardly notice it.

I hate roller coasters and generally never ride them under my own will. However, DS convinced me to ride this one with him and I must admit it was a very cool ride. The takeoff really takes you by surprise, no matter how many times you watch them pull out and I really thought I had made a big mistake during the first 30 seconds, but it is a very smooth ride and fun. You have already gone upside down before you even realize it. I would definitely ride this one again!! ;)

i am the wimpiest person when it comes to roller coasters. they make me cry and while waiting in line when i am forced to go on one i may have high enxiety. i live in NJ and don't go to six flags because its mainly all roller coasters. i don't go on anything like that. my parents call me the bag holder. i will sit and wait the 2 hours that you wait to go on a roller coaster on a bench in the sun. i won't go on tower of terror either. 2 years ago, i went on rockin roller coaster because my boyfriend persuaded me to go.. and because his brother in law who doesn't do coasters either went. so figured if rick could go, i'd go too. now, from what i remember, i'd go on it again. it was slightly terrifying.. but it actually wasn't too bad. the part that made it terrifying was because i didn't know what to expect. but now that i've gone on it, i'd do it again. i'm going to disney in may and now all i have to do is talk my way OUT of expedition everest because THAT does look scary...

Rock n Roller Coaster is one of my favorites. Just a tip for those of you over 6'5", try to sit in an odd numbered row. I am a tall person and have found that the odd numbered rows have a little more room for your legs. It doesn't seem like much when you look at the cars, but trust me, I've ridden it over 25 times and found there is a huge difference.

I'm pretty sure there are only 3 inversions...(unless you ride twice in a row!)
