From WorstPreviews.com:

MTV News caught up with director Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump) to ask him if he is thinking of revisiting any of his old films.

"I'll tell you what is buzzing around in my head now that we have digital tools and performance capture. I'm starting to think about 'Roger Rabbit'," said Zemeckis, adding that the new movie will be based on a completely new idea.

In the original 1988 film "Who Framed Roger Rabbit," a toon-hating detective is a cartoon rabbit's only hope to prove his innocence when he is accused of murder. The movie went on to earn $330 million in worldwide ticket sales.

If this new movie is based on a new idea, it sounds more like a sequel than a remake. Someone was bound to do it someday.

I really hope the San Andreas Fault kicks in someday, dumps the left half of California into the Pacific, and then maybe we can remake Hollywood.

One would think after having to redo 75% of Back to the Future, Zemeckis would have had enough of lateral filmmaking. The best he can do now is a CGI version of A Christmas Carol. Roger Rabbit was never that great of a film to begin with; it deserves neither a sequel nor a re-imagining. Although the Toontown Spin at DL is rather enjoyable, I must admit.

You smokin' dope? :rolleyes1Roger Rabbit was ground breaking and totally classic. Walt would have loved this innnovative film.

Aside from the integration of FX, animation and live-action, it was a lame and tedious storyline that didn't hold up to the length of the film. I watched it again a month ago and that climactic scene in the ACME warehouse with the "drip" went... on... forever, and I didn't smile once, even though I was supposed to be laughing throughout. The only saving grace of that film is Bob Hoskins' performance -- for doing what no other actor (with the exception of Gene Kelly) had ever done before to that extent -- and Jessica Rabbit.

Walt would have loved the idea, but he never would have settled for the finished product. He would have plussed it.

Well given that you just wished death on a large amount of people, I'm not sure I'd call you all that happy of a person to begin with.

While I agree Bob Hoskins is great in this movie, I'm not sure what you're referring to here. If you're referring to Anchors Aweigh...that's only one sequence. There were longer sequences in Bedknobs and Broomsticks with David Tomlinson and Angela Lansbury. You've got Dick Van **** and Julie Andrews in Mary Poppins, James Baskett in Song of the South... Look at the Alice comedies whose entire premise was a little girl interacting with an animated world.

For me, the highlight is the dueling pianos scene at the Ink and Paint Club.

And there was a sequal book, Who Plugged Roger Rabbit. And not only Jessica is in this, but Jessicas smaller twin sister.

Ok, im a big fan of the original film and dont see the need for a remake as the title of this post suggests, but would welcome a sequel / prequel whatever with arms open :thumbsup2

I demand more Jessica!
