Robert Irvine to Return to 'Dinner: Impossible'

Count me in as another that prefers Robert Irvine. I do hate when he yells at people, but I do think that's the reality of a busy kitchen. I noticed that they were showing the old shows with him paired with the new shows with Symon, so I bet they were testing the waters, or checking ratings.

:cheer2::cheer2: Dinner Impossible=Robert Irvine! It was okay with Michael Symon but not the same.

I never understood removing him from the show. Yes, he embellished his resume but small companies check resumes ans references. Not FoodTV? They chose to put all of his background experience on a nationally televised show without checking and then pulled him off when it was shown to be a bit more polished than it really was. Fair enough, but did no one think to check it prior to airing the show? The show was sailing because of the Chef Robert, not because people were blown away by his resume.

Definitely true- DH and I heard it from Robert himself when we met him at the Food and Wine Festival @ WDW last month

You know I loved the show with Robrt Irvine on it but I do question the network executives lack of attention to following up on people's resumes and claims they make about themselves. Did you watch the season of Next Food Network Star where one of the final 2 contestants had to withdraw after they got all the way to the finals and it was discovered he had also lied about his past? They been burnt at least twice by this kind of "embellishment".

I'm glad he is back though.

Well, I guess I will stop watching when he comes back...I haven't missed him at all. I got really tired of his abuse of those in the kitchen with him. And how he would take everything so personal. I like Michael, and will miss him on this show, but I hope this means he will be showing up on ICA more than he has.

:thumbsup2
ITA.... Why would FN rehire a fraud? Love MS. Hopefully they'll give him his own show. While I love Iron Chef, I think MS needs a show where his personality can shine through.

Robert rocks and I love his accent.:goodvibes Also, his temper is tame compared to Gordon Ramsey. :rotfl:

I never cared for Mike Symon on Iron Chef, but I love him on Dinner Impossible. He's hilarious and his goofiness and crazy laugh fit Dinner: Impossible so much better.

I'm not as crazy about Robert Irvine, but it's still a good show.

I have never liked Michael Symon since he won out over John Besh in Iron Chef. Besh is the faaaaaar superior Chef.

Yes, I'm a mean, grudge holding person. Sorry, it's true.;)

It is SOOO TRUE! I hated that he won, especially since I watched the WHOLE dang series, and than, uggghh HE WINS!:scared1:

I hated seeing Michael Symon in that role. Thank God, the PTB are bringing Robert back.

Oh I am so happy that Robert is coming back! I watched one episode with Michael and that was it. He just didn't have it.

I'm glad too - the show just wasn't as good without Irvine. False resume or not, the guy obviously had the talent and skills to pull off the challenges on this show. I do think he is meaner than he should be, but I do think that happens a lot in a big time kitchen.

I'm not a big fan of Symon. He takes big risks, which is good, but I'm still just kind of "eh" about him. Maybe it's the Next Iron Chef thing for me too, I don't know. I don't feel that it's a big risk when someone chooses to battle him - it's a cop out compared to picking Batalli, Flay, or the biggest challenge Morimoto.

I was stunned when it happened more than one time. I saw that it happened with the guy on TNFNS so when it happened again that was just :sad2:.

I guess I have a thing about integrity, because I don't care if I never see him again. He didn't just lie about a job title or his education -- his lies were so outrageous (and yes, check-out-able) that it went well beyond resume padding to outright delusional.

Sooner or later the rehire will come back to bite FN, because people with that personality disorder don't get better.

I can see that. And the thing that is so dumb about the whole thing is that he had a pretty good resume for real, so he really didn't need to embellish it - certainly not so over the top.

While I do like him better for the show than Symon and look forward to seeing the shows, I really am surprised to hear that they are bringing Irvine back on - I know I'll certainly never think of him the same way I did before the news broke about his lies. That really doesn't seem smart on FN's part.

As long as he didn't do something that he could be locked up for, I don't care how much he padded his resume. He is entertaining, a great chef, and wonderful in the Dinner: Impossible show.

It always amazes me how much some people cut "movie stars", pro sports athletes, and politicians all this slack regarding their slimy behavior, drug abuse, etc. and basically worshipping them, but then want to put someone like Robert Irvine's head on a pike for padding his resume.

I am sooooo happy to hear this! I love Robert Irvine, and I did not like Michael Symon at all as his replacement. Thanks for the update!:)

I feel the same way. I didn't even want Michael to win the Iron Chef competition. This has made me very HAPPY!!!:cool1:

I agree. He lied. He was punished. Move on. Everyone deserves a 2nd chance. Most people who won't forgive have been granted a 2nd chance in some part of their life themselves.
