Weird question but is anyone aware of a roadtrip planning tool that I can use to find Wal-marts along the route that we will drive to Orlando?

Weird question I know, but Wal-mart is always a great place to stop to stretch our legs and get a little something to eat (or snack on) so I thought I would ask.....

thanks again all!:goodvibes

We drive down the 90-79-77-19-26-95 route (not sure if order is right) and see lots of Walmarts, esp. Super centres along the way - I can never get DH to stop though!:rotfl:
I've never mapped them out, we just see them in each state along the interstates - maybe try walmart.com if you know your route and check each state for location on whatever road you're taking.
Happy & safe travels!:goodvibes

If you're planning on taking I-75 I would recommend purchasing the Along Interstate 75 book, because Walmart locations are usually listed if they are off a specific exit.

:thumbsup2 I was going to suggest the same thing. We always drive the I-75 route down to Orlando and whenever we need a Walmart, there are several along that route.

We're the same way with Walmart (and the odd Target store, too). A GPS might be a good investment. I find one of its greatest uses is finding "Points of Interets" or POIs on the fly. You can ask it to find, say, all Walmarts near your route and it returns a list of Walmart with directions and distance.

GPS is a good way to find out what is along the way.

At one pointWalmart sold a North American Atlas that included every store.

Hi. I second the I-75, I have got the book and highlighted all the Super Walmarts, Targets and Meijers along our way.It gives time for my Dh to stretch, eat or sleep while I shop.:lovestruc

:santa: I'm asking Santa for a GPS for Christmas - this way I can use it on the way down to Orlando! You've all helped me make up my mind regarding which route to take as well - as we're leaving New Years Day, will go the I-75 route - more places to stop along the way cinched the deal, particularly since we're driving down on a holiday.

have a great dis day!:wizard:

Are you driving from Hamilton, Ontario? Just want to make sure I'm not confused. - with your home location. And curious why you wouldn't go the other route if that's the case

Anyway, I adore the other route - 79-US19-77-26-95-4. Loads of places to stop. I've done it - hmmmm - probably close to ten times.

Walmarts.

For anyone else - these ones are right off the highways:

Erie, Pennsylvania (still on 90W just before 79 turn off)- Peach street exit - north - up the road right side (Sam's Club same area left side)

Edinboro, PA - not far down the 79.

More 79 - possibly Meadville - or smaller area - but not far - east exit

Summersville, WV - heading down right side of US 19

Columbia, SC - still on the 77 at this point - before 26 - Forest Drive - right off the exit (Sam's Club in same area)

Savannah, GA (off 95) - Savannah Airport exit - you can see the Walmart sign on the right.

St Augustine, FL - can't remember that exit - I'm too excited about WDW to stop.

Yes it is ridiculous that these are sitting in my head :rotfl::lmao:

Have a wonderful trip.

Well, I could tell you all the exits on the I-29 and I-94 on the way to Minneapolis so I must say that I understand completely! :rotfl2:

The reason I'm travelling from Hamilton is that I am going there for Christmas then am taking my step-daughter down to Florida on January 1st. I've been told that the I-75 is less prone to storms so have decided to go that way. It only adds an hour on to the drive.;) I will be sure to keep your list though just in case the weather is forecasted to be fantastic.

Sorry I meant to say all the Walmarts at exits on the I-29 and I-94.

I went and bought a Garmin GPS today at Walmart (love Walmart!) for $158.00! I think I am more excited about this January trip with my step-daughter than I am about the November trip with hubby!

Go to this link, and you can download a POI (points of interest file) that contains the location of every Wal-Mart and Sam's Club in the USA. It loads nicely on your new GPS (and makes finding Wal-Mart very easy).

And, if you're a fan of Target, here's the file that finds those stores
