This is almost a little too late, but I'll check my email before we leave tonight and I figure it's always good info to have for the future .....

My problem is I'm driving for 12 hours this weekend ....3 to PA (YAY - Chocolate World), 3 to VA and the 6 back on Sunday. I want to get all my water in but don't want to have to stop every 30 minutes (especially in NJ. They trap you there!). Today I figure I can drink it all early and Sat should be okay. What should I do about Sun?

The worst part is I get so bored, and in the past I've eaten and driven. Snacks, candy, etc. I did just get my 5 CD collection of Classic Disney music so maybe DH and I can have a sing-along (he'd probably rather die). Any other advice? A book on tape would be a good idea but I don't have time to get one. Anybody have words of wisdom? Healthy road trip treats? Thanks!

I know it sucks to stop so often, but really because you are driving and sitting you need to get out and stretch often. You really need to keep yourself hydrated. It will keep you from munching and getting as hungry. I way drink some along the way and maybe try to do the majority of drinking on Sunday later in your drive.

For treats - (As long as you aren't on low carb plan) Whole wheat pretzels, Soy Crisps, almonds or other nuts. Take a cooler with water, a couple string cheeses, PB & Jelly sandwich etc. Just plan your day out with how much your allowed to eat and stick to your plan. Give yourself snacks every few hours so you keep your blood sugar level. Its when you get too hungry that the wanting to eat whatever is in your path.

Have fun at Hershey this weekend. I had a blast last Sunday. There are healthy things to eat in the park you just have to search them out. Check out the Frontier section. There was a subway, a fruit drink stand and a greek grill that had some sandwiches and wraps that looked healthy (they also looked like they made them cooked to order).

Thanks Mel - I am doing low-carb so I'm bringing sliced turkey and string cheese and some nuts. My biggest fear is having to pee and nowhere to stop!

Sounds like you had fun last weekend. We're just going to Chocolate World in the morning before getting back on the road. I'm not sure if it's better that that is the only temptation I'll have to face. I think I'll be fine. First real weekend away on plan so I'm a little nervous. Thanks for the advice though!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: A sing along with DH :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I have NO idea about your DH but I imagined it with mine and couldn't have laughed harder (you need the tag fairy to tag you with that one lol! ). I am on atkins too and I personally would travel with some yummy pepperoni if you don't suffer from heartburn (as I am eating mine now), but I second the thought of drinking (and pottying ) before you go, time in the potty = as much as possible! Then on Sunday drink average amounts on you drive and fit the rest in closer to home or even at home depending on the time of your arrival! ::yes:: Have a GREAT trip, I am green with envy as I haven't been to the great land of chocolate (Hershey Park) since I was in fourth grade (a long time ago ladies and gents lol!)
