Well I'm from MA and I'll be honest, I am not sure if the laws are similar lol.
But I took my road test a couple years ago and was nervous as heck for it. I had to be up early as the test was for 7 am...and all morning I felt as if I was going to puke. It was not fun. Then I got to the RMV and the state police officer was very bit-erm, mean lol. She was a nasty thing, really. She was short and didn't smile. She was actually quite intimindating and it was NOT fun when she first yelled at me for getting the hand singles screwed up. I had on long sleaves and held the sleave in my hand if you know what I mean. I was so nervous, I had to grab something, so I grabbed the end of my sleave. I stuck my hand out and she hollered at me, "You so did NOT just stick your hand out that window like that. You put that arm straight back in here and roll the sleave up. DO IT AGAIN!" I was scared crapless lol. I quickly rolled my sleave up and followed her orders.
That was the worst of it. She had me then pull out, pull near the curb, back up 50 feet in a straight line, do a 3-point turn and head back to the parking lot and park for her. That was it. I passed and never felt so happy. I could not wipe the smile off my face all the way home. I thought it was silly after that I was so nervous, there was no need, really.
Try not to be nervous, most of the officers are REALLY understanding of your nerves. When you get in, just kindly tell him or her that you are slightly nervous for the test and just smile, be kind and laugh maybe. I am sure they WILL understand. Also, drive as you feel you should. Don't think of it as a test, that sometimes makes one more stiff than they normally would be. Just relax and take it one step at a time.
And if you don't pass (though I doubt you would!) Don't worry about it! You can re-take these road tests until you pass. It isn't a one-shot deal where if you don't pass now, you'll never drive! lol. If you pass, GREAT! If you don't, it is NOT the end of the world lol. I know plenty of people who have failed and then just retook it about 3 months later, or whenever possible again, and then passed knowing what the test was like. I have know many more to pass and I am sure you will pass also!
Make sure you drink something and eat something before you leave. Sometimes an empty stomach increases that nervous feeling and sometimes that can be a distraction.
