We are leaving next Friday for WDW! Driving from Dallas to Orlando.

Any good Road Movies for us to watch on the way. I'v done myself a disservice by running out and getting every new Disney title in the last 5yrs so my 2 boys have basically seen everything over and over again (as have I).

Something we all can enjoy
So far I have on my List
Harry Potter
E.T. (out on video yet?)
Zeus and Roxanne

We'll be using the PS2 so DVD format. Also do you rent or buy for Road trips? Blockbuster is not an option with their 100% late fee!! Even their ANCIENT movies are $4!!!

Thanks Liferbabe
1 week and can't wait!!

Harry Potter is a great choice. Here in PA, it was $15.88 on DVD at WalMart. Also, since the movie is 2 1/2 hours long, it should eat up a good chunk of time.

I am not sure if your kids would enjoy it or not, but Independence Day is another great movie for a road trip. Also, Jurassic Park (which could help them get excited for all the Dinosaur themed attractions at WDW!)

Hope this helps.

There is a DVD club you can join that will send you rentals that have no "late fees". It's called Netflix. It appears you pay $19.95 per month for unlimited rentals with the option to cancel at any time. Check it out, it might be what you're looking for.

What about some of the Star Wars Movies? Sounds like your boys are in the right age range . My Ds who loves Harry Potter and ET is a big Star Wars fan. Also consider recording some of their favorite TV cartoons or shows that you don't normaly let them watch a lot. My DS has a lot of favorits that I call "harmless junk" that I don't have a real problem with the show, but don't want him to spend a lot of time watching them. These are perfect for filling time without costing a lot.

Some of the old ones are good, we picked up The Sandlot on our last trip. My 9 year old loved it!

Oh Great Ideas!!!

They love Spongebob and I could record that since he is on CONTINOUSLY!!! Oh I forgot DVD!!
We don't have cable at home (that's why i buy so many movies) so I'll go to Grandma's house to record.
I went to Kmart last night and HP was $20. At that rate 5 movies would set me back $100. That's not including gas! I had to get back to reality and remember the "old days" when we sang "99 bottles of Root beer on the wall" and Slug bug! Now im worried about In flight entertainment.
Im going to check out NETFLIX thanks for the link.
And the Sandlot. I think I will like that one.

We like using audio books that play on the car's cassette tape player, or others as well.

You can check out audio books from libraries.

You can also rent them from CrackerBarrel Restaurants along the way. You pay full price to buy one and if you return it within 7 days, they'll refund everything except 3 or 4 dollars. Best of all, you can return it to any CrackerBarrel, and not just the one you bought it from. They have several types (or genres) to choose from.

When we drive from Florida to and from Ohio, we rent one, listen to it, and then return it for another one. It can pass the time quite well and could provide a break even from watching DVDs or video tapes.

hope that helps

Unfortunately, only Star Wars Ep 1 is on DVD. Figures, the original entertainment technoweenie, George Lucas, is taking is sweet time releasing the original Star Wars movies on DVD. :p

There is a Spongebob DVD called Nautical Nonsense and Sponge Buddies that collects 10 of the cartoons.

Check to see if your local Blockbuster or if there's a used CD store in your area that sells used DVDs. I've bought a few used DVDs off eBay and haven't had any problems.

I wouldn't get National Lampoon's Vacation, though -- one viewing and they'll be watching dad like a hawk!! :D

Ok! This is what I have so far.

Went to the library and checked out 2 audio books. They rent VHS but no DVD. Go figure!!

Signed up for the 2 week free trial at Netflix. I am awaiting my DvD's
Sandlot
Spongebob Nautical Nonsense
Matrix
Snow Dogs

If this goes as smooth as they say it does during my trial, this will be a great alternative to BuckBuster Video!

I purchased HP at a Dvd Resale shop.

Thanks for all the great tips and im sure these will help many.

I need a Vacation from Vacation Planning!! But it is so much fun!

Just wanted to update no that we are back!

NETFLIX worked great!! I received all my movies in 3 days after signing up. I will continue using them since the No late Fee is a definite plus. I've returned movies and they always send me an email when they receive.

Spongebob was the favorite DVD. It's 2 hours long and very funny! The boys loved it and they thought we had nickelodeon in the van. (Sams Club sells this DVD for 12.98) I rented this one from Netflix but the kids never wanted me to send it back so I finally bought one at Sam's.

The short episode videos definitely work better than a feature length film in the car. We did not appreciate HP at all and turned it off before Harry went to Hogsworth! We watched it later. PowerPuff girls is another good DVD with many episodes.

The other movies we rented we watched while at the Vacation Home. We have PS2 in the van for games and movies and with an extra cord it quickly goes wherever, so even though the home only offered VHS were were able to watch our DVDs.

Thanks for all the suggestions
