I am really really not happy about the closure of rnrc during my trip.It is my favorite ride and they waited until just one month or so to tell us it was to be closed,if I would have known this Six Months ago i would have scheduled my trip for a later date! Thanks ADisney for that one:mad:

We cant all be winners, hope your trip still turns out great :thumbsup2

Well, at least you know it's not going to be open. Reading another thread it seems as if it's been having some issues lately and has been down a lot anyway. Would you rather have the advanced warning, even if it's not 6 months out, so you can be prepared? Or would you rather them not plan to rehab it til Jan, show up thinking it was fine, only to find out it wasnt going to be open while you were there anyway because they couldnt keep it running?? At least this way you know for sure. Plus, I would much rather them shut it down if it's not working at all like they want, or possibly dangerous..

Eh, closures happen. You shouldn't let 1 ride closure get to you. WDW has so much to do, I think you'll be fine.

I think I'd rather have a one month warning on a ride closure than have it break down on someone. They've got to come down some time to make sure it lasts longer.

Sorry it bums you out though. Next trip it'll be up and running for you.

Hey OP - I'll give you some sympathy :) . I agree its a bummer and I also agree that it stinks not to know in advance. We were able to extend our dates to be around (hopefully) when Haunted Mansion opens. I was talking to my DH about RnR this morning and we both agreed that a several month notice would have allowed some people to change their trip dates. It may have been unavoidable on Disney's part :confused3 , but it still stinks. I personally am more upset about SE being closed, but at least I knew about it way in advance and had time to adjust.

Just remember that Disney doesn't owe anyone any notice at all for their decisions to refurb rides. It's nice that they do. Yeah I'd be bummed too if my favorite ride was down while I was there, but hey, I'd rather it be closed for refurb than have something happen to someone. But you know what? Life goes on...I know I'd still have a blast at Disney in spite of a ride closure. :)

Sympathy from me, too. I would feel really bad after spending so much money on a vacation to have one of my favorite rides down (Small World for me, would send me into tears!:sad1: ) And yeah, it's probably for a good reason blah blah blah...but it still sucks for you. And you have every right to feel bad about it.

For those upset about the "lack" of notice...here's something taken from the backside of my confirmation & invoice (bold my own):

Attraction tickets:
Parks, restaurants, attractions, recreation, entertainment, and other items are subject to change without notice, cancellation, and may close temporarily due to refurbishing, capacity, inclement weather or special events and may otherwise change or be discontinued without notice and without liability to the owners of the Walt Disney World Resort.

My families bummed too. We're hoping it will still be opened on the 2nd so we can get it in on our first day there. rumors are a little sketchy as to when it will close.

The disney site says it will be closed Sept. 4 - 30.

We were going to change our tickets and go to MGM on Sept 1.

Im going to wait till I get there and see if RNR is open first.

Me too... changing our stuff so we can go October 1st and ride it at least twice to make up for missing it the rest of the trip....

you live in Pensacola??? ummmmmm..... nevermind:confused3

im sad that it will be closed at the time of my vacation to the world!!! But I will be able to go to the Haunted Mansion as it will be opening back up while I am there so I am winning one way!!!!

While it may be a bummer, with Disney open 365 days a year something will have to be down for refurb. Disney at least takes cares of their attractions, not like other parks that take your money while the attractions are just run into the ground. With all the parks and things to do it has never bothered us at all. We have favorites but if they are down, so be it, plenty other things to do and there is also the next trip to enjoy whats being refurbed. We'll be in WDW in September and probably miss HM, one of our favs but we'll just catch it next time.

If attractions are that important guests should constantly check but somethings bound to be closed, might not be your favorite but closed just the same. Last trip they were upgrading and refurbing the WL, didn't hamper out stay in the least, we still enjoyed the Lodge nad are returning again. We just look on the bright side of being able to visit WDW 2 times a year for 10 night stays while we know others who haven't had the chance of going once. We feel blessed each time we go and always say it may be our last and enjoy it as such. Up coming trip will be our 39th and you never know what life will throw at you, just take it as it comes and enjoy it like it will be your last and be thankful.

I think the only way my WDW vacation could be totally ruined is if I got there and the whole thing was closed (like on National Lampoon's Vacation). Hopefully, I wouldn't react like Clark Griswold did (LOL), but I would be upset!

But I've been fortunate so far. There has never been a major ride closure when I've been there.

Just an extra bit of info, most people are only posting the down time for SEPT... however:
Rock 'n' Roller Coaster® Starring Aerosmith: Closed for Refurbishment [October 1, 2007 to October 4, 2007]

You spend thousands of dollars to visit WDW to go on 1 ride? :confused3

I do not spend thousands of dollars at disney to go on one ride but I am very much a thrill ride junkie so it dissapoints me to know that the only true thrill ride at Disney will be close this time but I do know that it should be open next time. I realize there is still EE,SM,TOT,and SPM at Disney I feel that RNRC is the most true thrill ride there. It will be alright though I guess that I will have to make up for it at Universal with the Hulk and Dueling dragons!pirate:
