RNR Refurb

I was trying to rearrange our hs days last night late specifically for this ride and it said all fp were booked for the 29th, which I thought was really odd. We ended up choosing the 24th instead, there isn't a chance it would close early is there?

of course it closes on my ACTUAL birthday, which i planned to spend in HS because it's my fav ugh

And someone on another thread has confirmed that their FP+ for RnR has been cancelled by Disney and switched to something else. I'm beginning to wonder if I should waste any time with HS this trip. We have hoppers (thankfully), so I'm thinking of hitting ToT and TSMM and then getting out of there, returning for the SW fireworks (if those even get scheduled). At least with RnR you could make the argument that HS is at least a half day park, but at this point, that argument is getting harder and harder to make.

We dropped to 1 HS day. We want to hit TOT, TSM and ST. No big deal, we will hit Everest an extra time. The rides gotta be refurbed at some point. Safety First! I would rather ride a safe ride than one in need of attention.

I understand the need for refurbs from a safety standpoint, believe me. I just think Disney dropped the ball big time on the planning for this one - BTMRR is also down at the same time, and if it were such an urgent repair (serious safety concern) the ride wouldn't be operating right now, they'd have closed it promptly. And really, closing it within the 60 day window once we've already planned our days...that's the real cherry on top.

It didn't ruin our trip or anything to not have BTMRR operating, but it did change the feel for us. Maybe it was the different routine without it? Either way, maybe go in with low expectations and hope for the best. MK is still incredible with lots to do.

Can you switch your HS day to earlier in your trip?

Dan

After looking at it, I don't think so. I've already got all the ADRs and FP lined up on top of the fact that the only day that would be "recommended" is the day we're going to MNSSHP! I might have to talk to my group about springing for hoppers or something. Totally bummed!

You could do Hollywood studios in the morning and early afternoon, and then the Halloween party at night without needing hoppers. Just an option.

I'm surprised that there is so much being refurbed at the same time. I am glad it's not during our time there because Dinosaur and BTMR are already frustrating enough.

This really sucks. I am at my 60 day window tomorrow and planning out my fast passes today. Closed my entire trip is a real bummer. Here is to hoping that the refurb either changes or is done quicker then expected.

Welp, this just means the HS is going to be a half day. MK closes at 7 two of our four days for parties and AK is only scheduled til 6 now. I've know it's the fall and all but just... I know we aren't planning a 2017 trip.

Taking the positive outlook, not being able to ride RNR and Big Thunder will allow guests more time in their schedule to catch the Main Street Electrical Parade one nigh............Oh, wait, never mind.

Ouch. That really would almost be too much to take.

So disappointed. I came to Disboards to find out why fast passes were gone already for Oct 29. I rarely get to ride because I'm usually with my son who hates it. This is a girlfriends trip and we were both really looking forward to it. It definitely makes me think about skipping studios this trip. Since it was the main reason to go to HS in the first place.

Ok, I was a little upset Rivers of Light didn't pan out. But I got over it.

Kinda bummed about MSEP. But I got over it.

Increase in MNSSHP prices, too much for this Canadian girl and our ginormous exchange rate (obviously not Disneys fault). But I got over it.

BTMR re-hab announcement was a like a chop to the throat. But I got over it (barely).

I was reminded by my daughter that all of the above would be ok, we'd just ride RNRC a bazillion times to make up for the closures.

And the hits just keep on coming.
Not sure I'll get over this one. :furious:

The timing does seem to suck, given that other things are down. And we won't be there during that time, so it doesn't effect me personally. I can see where it would be upsetting for those going. At the same time, thankfully it's just a short term closure. I'm sure to do anything more than a routine check, they have to shut the ride down. There's no "good" time to do it. Curious to see what changes will be made, if any. Perhaps they're going to turn the lights on for days so they can scour the place and remove any phallic symbols or other things that could be considered suggestive.

A "good" time would be when one of the other coasters at WDW is not closed.

RIGHT! I have got to wonder who the heck is doing the scheduling for this stuff at Disney! How many actual (geared towards older kids/adults) coasters does disney have? Space, Big Thunder, EE, and RnR? Am I missing any? So, you would think when they are looking at refurb dates, they would try to not have more than one down at a time - especially when so many other things are going down/disappearing (ROL, sum of all thrills, MSEP, etc.)! Wouldn't SOMEONE over there say "oh hey, we should probably just move the RnR refurb back a couple weeks to when BTMR will be done"...especially during one of the supposed busier times at the parks? I mean, that's over Halloween weekend! They could've scheduled dinosaur, IASW, or basically any other refurb for that time instead and it would've made much more sense. I am seriously nervous that next week they will announce EE going down.

I'm sure I sound like a big ol' complainer, but man this hurts for our once-in-a-lifetime trip. I hope we don't regret not choosing universal for our vacay. They need to put me in charge of scheduling! I'll even do it for free.
