The value of resale has nothing to do with the direct prices. There are thousands of timeshares that have high direct prices but you can buy resale pennies on the dollar if not for free if you take over the contract and maintenance fees.I don't think Disney is looking to kill resales. That would lower the true value of buying DVC at all. One of the biggest advantages of DVC is that it holds its value if you ever need to sell.
Personally, I would probably not buy resale unless it was exactly what I was looking for, use year, points, resort and price. I want to be able to use it at all the resorts and Moonlight Magic events if they ever come back.
