Riverside room request location question

I booked Riverside and made requests by what my Passporter book suggested.
My first choice was Magnolia Bend.
Second choice was building 18, Alligator Bayou.
However, from reading different items, seems like Alligator Bayou Bldg 14 would be a better location.
So, what are your thoughts on why they suggested bldg 18 over 14 and what you think?
Of course I know I may get none of my requests, but I have been lucky so far! :D

Manor rooms, are more ornate outside and elegant inside. We were in oak manor and had a corner room, over looking the river, it was a great spot. (was non-smoking then but may of changed). Also was in alligator bayou ?17 The outside seems much plainer and not as "themed" but open the door and your beds are made of logs! it is really cool inside! I wished that they could combine these, decorations. Imho, any room in riverside is great! MKY

Magnolia Bend seems to be a favorite mansion - it is very pretty! On the Bayou side, you can't beat Building 14 for convenience - it is directly next to the main building and near the main bus stop. I would recommend 14, then 15 and then 18. :)

It really depends on what you consider a better location. If you want to be really close to the food court than building 14 is good. Personally, building 14 was too busy for me. We stayed in the magnolia mansion and our family enjoyed the stroll over the bridge to get to the main pool and food court. Our mansion room was very convenient to the bus stop too. I remember seeing building 14 and being glad that our family wasn't staying there. There was alot of activity around there. Building 18 is smoking optional. So, I guess 2 things you'll need to consider are style of room (mansion vs. bayou) and whether you want quieter location or convenient location to main building. Either way, you'll be very happy there. The resort is lovely.

We love Magnolia but Oak Manor was great too. I prefer the elegance of Magolia bend to the bayou - I don't do logs and at Magnolia I feel like I am almost at the beach club :D This is the best resort so beautiful and relaxing.

I have to agree with most of the other members. Bldg 14 is one of the most requested because it is the closest to the food court. We much prefer the Magnolia Bend Section (Oak Manor & Parterre Place). They are just over the bridge from the main bldg and not as noisy or have as much traffic passing thru with guest going to other bldgs. You might want to take a look at the resort map to get a better idea. But if you want AB I would request the 18.

I had heard that Bldg.14 was left open for disabled guests, although others can stay there too, but I doubt Disney would advertise this building to the general public because of that reason.

You can request bldg 14 but those guests who are physically challenged are given first priority there. We stayed in bldg. 15 and is was fine. A little further from the food court area than bldg 14 but very close. Plus, from what others have said, it wasn't as busy as bldg 14. I think the busy comes from the "foot traffic" from the food court area to the AB section. I didn't notice that it was that bad but we were there the week after Thanksgiving which was the slowest time of the year.

'Nother question --
Is there an extra $10 a night preferred room rate, like they have at the All Stars?
TIA!

Waterview rooms are $10 more. A waterview could be a pool view, river view or small pond view. Since the moderates do not have balconies, I don't think paying the extra money is worth it. I would only pay for a waterview at a deluxe resort where I could enjoy the balcony.

I agree with jaguar9748...paying the extra for the water view, at least at PORiverside or FQ isn't worth it to me. Besides the only time we see it is when you walk out your front door. Otherwise you can just walk down to the river or pool and have the same view. There are a couple rooms where you might be able to sit in the room and look at the window at the river, but not many.

Thanks again. I paid the extra $10 a night at CSR and agree. It wasn't worth the extra $, not unless my other choice would have been their huge parking lot. ;)
