Riverside - Never going back!!!

I was just wondering if the 6 rooms were close to each other like in the same section. If so I could be a bad crew or a supervisor who lets the CM's get away with bad work and does not "crack the wip" so to speak. Others have reported thwir rooms were clean. We stayed in AB bldg. 14 and had no problems but that was 3 years ago. A lot can change in that time. I am glad you had the manager go with you on the last set of rooms. Hopefully he will take the appropriate actions to ensure this does not happen again....smjj

You could definitely be right. Our rooms were in 3 buildings but all of them were in the Mansions. Magnolia Terrace, Oak Manor and something that started with a P? They were the three buildings right in a row.

We actually sayted in Magnolia Terrace in 12/2003 and LOVED it and in AB building 14 in 10/2000 and LOVED it. I guess that is why I was sooo disappointed this time.

I have to say, we stayed at POR last Jan. Our room was less than clean when we walked in. I left a tip everyday, and it still was not really clean.
This time we are staying at CSR, I hope mousekeeping is a little better this time around.

Just returned from POR and found the resort to be satisfactorily clean and staff to be hospitable also.

We had a spilt stay with the second part being at the Boardwalk. If I had to pay cash for the rooms, I would definitely prefer POR vs the Boardwalk.

POR was $104.00 + taxes nightly (AP discount). Our 1br villa would be at least three times that on a nightly cash basis (if we were not DVC members).

Of course, as we all know, YMMV!

Although i loved POR from a scenic perspective..from a mousekeeping perpective we were a bit disappointed too. On our last trip 06/04-06/12..Mousekeeping was "ok". When we got to our room I checked it out closely...with a 3yr old and 18 month old I have too. I found food pieces and lots of little junk under the dust ruffles for the bed...I cleaned that up. I also (and most concerning) found a 1/2 tablet of a mediacation on the cushion of the little stool in the room. Of course I was so relieved I found it and not my 18 month old who would have probably eatten it!!!

Our socks too were totally black from walking on the carpet and the total cleanliness of the room wasn't great...although nothing I though significant enough to complain about in my opinion. My disappointment was that some days our room still had not been cleaned by 3:30pm. This happened at least 3 times. With an 18 month old that needs to nap..I ended up putting out the do not disturb sign and had someone come and deliver the necessities and empty the trash etc once ds woke up. Mousekeeping was always very pleasant in these situations. On the days the rooms did get cleaned early mousekeeping had lots of fun plannig with the kids toys and setting up the stuffed animals which I know they loved.

I definetly think there is not enough mousekeeping people to go around at POR ..at least when we were there. When we stayed at AKL in April we never had an issue and our room was always spotless by noon.

I don't think we will be returning to POR either..although mousekeeping is not the only reason. For us, we definetly enjoyed the conveince of all things being centrally located at AKL and will likely look for a more compact resort (such as AKL) in the future given we have young kids.

edited to add: we were in Paratree Terrace , 2nd floor (i think thats how to spell it)

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! I would have FEAKED!

Unfortunately there is absolutely no reason that this should have happened.

Yikes I'm freaking out over here. I just booked 2 days at Riverside. You guys are really scarying me. Should I cancel my other option was Movies standard room. I have a toddler so the idea of hiking isn't to appealing.

I think that every time the experience can be so different. I know there are lots of people that raved about POR. I would just look your room over closely (see my previous post about mediction i found in the room), especially given you have a little one. If the room is not going to be ok..call the manager...

sending pixie dust your way that you have a great trip...and a clean room... :earboy2:

DITTO! We had plans to stay at CSR and then changed our mind about it. Just tonight we called and booked POR for 6 nights in September. Now I'm wondering if we made a mistake.

Well from what I understand, they're trying VERY hard to hire more people, but it's just not happening.. Maybe they could start holding guns to the heads of the guests and make them clean their own rooms.. :teeth:

If the staff isn't there, then they aren't there.. (I also wonder how many workers "called in" for the long holiday weekend..) I just don't agree with taking a "never again" attitude over something that may well have already been corrected.. In my situation I used the term "never" due to heat, humidity and rain - but now I realize how silly that was.. This September could actually be wonderful!! :flower:

then management needs to pitch in and clean rooms. if they cannot keep the rooms clean then they should not rent them out. also finding used razor blades in a room what a liability!!! i don't understand how any complaint about disney will get turned around and how the poster shouldn't have complained. the disney goers are a little too blinded by the so called "magic"

However, I wouldn't swear off the resort. It sounds more like a House Cleaning Issue. If you like the resort in general, I would just make sure you got a clean room.

I totally agree about POR. We stayed 4/23-4/28 and then went to the AKL for three days ( which ofcourse is absolutely incredible ). POR was so dirty. For our entire stay we had a used q-tip in the corner of the bathroom with dirt and hair around it. The tiles in the shower were full of mildew and our socks would turn black from walking on the carpets. I don't want to offend any fans of this hotel but our experience was awful. We have no interest in staying there ever again. I love Disney dearly but they should remember cleanliness was one of it's original values. I hope it can renew that spirit in some of it's hotels.

i hope you sent a letter to the hotel management or whoever oversees their hotels. disney needs to see these complaints in writing so maybe they will make sure they take care of their resorts and parks and keep it clean. disney has gone downhill since the last time we were there 10 years ago. turning into a very dirty park and the cm are ignoring this.

Nobody said she shouldn't have complained. I don't think anyone on this thread suggested or would suggest she shouldn't have complained. I think we all agree she should have darn well tootin complained. Now that we've exposed that red herring of yours for what it is, lets get to the real issue at hand. Someone said never going back again after Disney made it right is an overreaction and I agree with that assessment. I know nothing about POR and don't claim to know. But why never go back to someplace you've always liked over one incident? Yeah it was 3 rooms. A bad incident. Inexcusable. But I don't think anyone is making any excuses here. They made a mistake. 3 of them in fact. Someone got a bit lazy perhaps. Or their numbers were input improperly. We'll never know. But People make mistakes. sometimes, mistakes tend to pile onto each other too. For me, they tend to come in bunches. Some day's nothing goes right. We've all had such days no matter what job we are doing. I would agree with that assessment were it Hojo, or Holiday in, or the Peachtree Plaza or anywhere else I had had nothing but a good trip in before. It doesn't mean I'm blinded by anything. other than I'd hate for someone to miss out on something they really liked over one bad incident. Fallacy number two. Attack those don't fit your personal ajenda as "blinded" rather than deal with what they say.
