Rivers of Light--FP or Tiffins Dinner Package

Which would be better if wanting to see Rivers of Light?

If you had wanted to or planned to eat at Tiffins, the Dining Package can be a good deal depending on what you order plus you get a pass to the show. Some that have done both have stated the Dining view is somewhat better than the FP+ view. I have done the FP+ and each view is different due to the positioning of the floats. I'm not sure there is a huge advantage to one or the other, it depends on if you would like to dine at Tiffins.

NOW, depending on when you are going (looks like later) I would think about Tiffins because that opens a FP+ for you that can be used elsewhere since Pandora will now be a hot FP+ to get. If you get one of those, by dining, you will still have two left for other things and maybe even roll a 4th. Pandora will bring more crowds to AK, so FP+ may become more important there. If you had for ROL you would tie up your last one all day, unable to roll a 4th.

This is exactly what we had discussed for our June trip! We booked the Tiffins ROL pkg for all the reasons stated above.... have never eaten at Tiffins but it seems like a good value and with pandora opening, would like to keep FP free for other rides and possibly getting 4th, or more.

Good point, why waste a FP if you're going to eat at Tiffins anyway and can secure ROL with an ADR. AK is going to be as crowded as it's ever been for a months to come and yes FP will be valuable to alleviate that. I'm glad you can still get an EE in addition to a Pandora ride.

If you're going to eat at Tiffins already, then do the dining package. If you'd be unsure about eating there and would only do it for the dining package, then I wouldn't because I wouldn't spend any extra money on RoL to be in the dining section.

We have decided to do the same thing. I don't want to waste a FP+ for ROL. The park is going to be pretty busy. FP+ are going to be pretty important to save some time standing in line.

I'm actually not sure I want to eat at Tiffins. And we won't be getting to AK until later in the day, so probably no chance of a 4th FP or more. I'm planning on doing my first 3 FP at this park though. Since we can FP only one of the Pandora rides, we will do one of those, and the other will be Safari. No desire to do EE, Kali, or really any other rides. So ROL FP would probably be the only one we would be interested in.

RoL is nearly impossible to get as a FP at 30 days out. Very highly unlikely you can get it as a 4th FP unless you check right when someone happens to cancel their FP

Both will work. If you don't want to waste a FP on the show, then do the dining package. Normally, we like to get the dining package. Tiffins is a very good restaurant, and in many ways, we have found out that we have paid less with getting the DP than we would have if we paid out of pocket. I have done both FP and the dining package, and I enjoyed the DP seating a lot more than the FP seating.
