Rivers of Light by the end of October?!?

There is a page for Rivers of Light dining packages that appears on the WDW website now, with dates starting tonight. The text on the page is clearly leftover from when they thought it would be open in May, but I don't recall the page being live a week ago?

This is the first day I have noticed the page. I've been checking often since our trip is coming up, and I didn't want to have something else planned in the event it opened. The site says to call, so I did. CM didn't seem to know any more than I did. She said I should call back later.

It wasn't up yesterday. I just have to laugh at this point, we've been on a total Murphy's Law trip this time, so OF COURSE it comes up today when yesterday was our AK day.

Hoping others can get in on this action!!!! Good luck!

Do you think that May 1 date might be leftover from May 1 2016 when the packages were expected to go live? The Disney site does not include a year.
That's a possibility. The strange part is that CMs are telling people over the phone that May 1st, 2017 is the date. The Disney page for the dining packages is clearly not finished yet though since tiffins info is missing.

I would assume because the CMs tend to know less than most people on these message boards about this type of thing. And they are seeing the same "May 1", and to them, it makes no sense for it to be something beginning May 1, 2016. They didn't obsessively keep up with RoL news this past spring (again, I would assume), so they would not make the connection that it could possibly be leftover text from a previously offered but never started package.

Yep, obviously they are getting ready to reveal something if this page is going live again.

I went ahead and called since I was going next week, The CM that I spoke with said something like they were short of people to talk with because of training...

According to dining packages available for the show on DisneyWorld.com, Rivers of Light will officially debut on or around May 1st, 2017. The dining packages offering reserved viewing space for the show will begin to be offered on May 1st, so the show would have to debut by then. Dining packages will be available for booking 180 days in advance should all go according to plan this time.

i think its still just speculation but its more to work with then what we have had

the page this was based on had old info and has since been taken down. The MAy 1st date was originally supposed to be for 2016.

Oh boy. During the Spring when it didn't open I commented that rumors said it was at risk for opening this year at all. "Oh no, no way, it will open by end of summer" others said. A year late? How many more ways can WDW fail at opening new stuff?

While I don't always like to defend Disney I would argue here that Disney PR announced this show too soon. The issues that happened were obviously major and not expected. That happens when you use new technology. Look at Test Track for example.

Or the Avatar Land.... think that they are trying to do this cutting edge technology stuff that looks great in mockups in some warehouse. But getting it into the field, making it something that can be relied on day in and day out, and to work as expected. That hasn't gone as they might have first hoped.....

I like them doing this new stuff.... but then I kinda enjoy an attraction like Buzz Lightyear too.

At this point they might as well just let RoL and Avatar open together.... that's if both are ready sometime next year.

I have to say, and I hardly ever have anything negative to say about Disney, but I have a bit of gripe since the top 2 reasons why I booked our December trip in the first place, was ROL and the SW fireworks/dessert party and at this time neither of them are available to book. :badpc: So to say I'm a bit lukewarm on Disney right now would certainly be an understatement. I'll get over it and make do as others will but just wanted to get that off my chest.
