Disney have finally buried the hatchet in River Country and announced that it will remain closed and will never re-open again.

For those who went there, what can I say, it was O.K.

Not a patch on Blizzard Beach I suppose.

I honestly thought that because the signs were still there that one day it would re-open.

We know now !!

:(

I never did get to see this park. Wonder what they might do with it??

We went to River Country on the last day of our very first holiday to Florida and we loved it. There were characters dressed up in bathing costumes actually going down the slides. My daughter thought this was the best of the three water parks and she had so much fun, swinging on the ropes and landing in the water. The next time we went it had closed down and we were so dissapointed, I think it's a shame.

One time at Blizzard beach characters were there too. Goofy was swimming with us and doing underwater acrobatics. :cool1:

Last time we were at Blizzard Beach (August 2002) Goofy got in the lazy river when we were it and floated along with us in his Victorian swimsuit :teeth:

The CM we went on the Wishes Cruise with in December told us that River Country would be closing officially soon. He said it was because the lake was not safe to swim in (whether the makeup of the lake changed or whether new rules & regs came in which made it unsafe & thus WDW open for litigation he didn't say) I suppose it's good that they've made it official to stop the speculation.

I'm glad that they've made it official now although it never looked as if it was ever going to re-open at any stage.

I really enjoyed it there with the huge drops off the slides and into the pool and the areas going into the lake.
