That is so, so very sad to me. This was my first waterpark I ever visited back in the 70's. I miss this place so much. It was probably the last pool/waterpark I ever went to where my mom was still healthy enough and wanted to participate in playing with us (then) kids in the water. I have so many fond memories of this place, and seeing the wood rot and the water filling up with algae, etc. almost brings me to tears. Seeing how plain FW's pool is, it would be awesome if WDW would wall River Country's water up from Bay Lake, chlorinate it, and refurbish or reconstruct the existing slides, T-bar, etc. for FW campers' use. That would give me a lot of incentive to stay in one of the FW cabins.salmoneous said:There is an island in the middle of Bay Lake. Disney first opened the island as Treasure Island. It soon changed the name to Discovery Island and opened a small zoo. The island is still there obviously, but isn't open to tourists.
