We have our first trip in almost 3 years, so many changes...lol but getting it pulled together. with the fall changes to Rise, do we just need to get a return time thru the DAS on our phone like a normal ride or is there another step?

yes, Rise is just the same as any other ride in the park.

You can get DAS return times for any ride that has a stand-by line. The DAS is an accommodation for those who cannot stand in the line. You cannot get the two Advanced picks for any rides that have the individually paid lightning lane. (I can't remember the abbreviations for those two things.)
