Rise of the Resistance BOARDING GROUPS Superthread Part 2 *No Ride Spoilers Please* *PLEASE READ POSTS 1-3*

I am so happy!!! I finally get to ride!! 🙌🙌

Husband and I both tried on our Pixel 3as, on TMobile at our hotel. I have been practicing, he only finally listened to what to do this morning. He got the boarding group. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤣 We are on the higher side, 86.

I am so excited!!!! I know it's not the full experience, but I was one of the poor people sobbing in the middle of Main Street with no boarding group while everyone else cheered on our last trip pre-pandemic.

Just updating from my practice round today. I did try this method and it worked well in getting to the join button. But then it spun & spun waiting to get to select my tickets, so by the time I selected them, it was too late. That would have happened either way, so it’s just luck of the draw on that one I think. Hopefully when I have a valid reservation, it doesn’t take so long to find my tickets. And we have 5 park days - hoping we can get on just once.

ETA: this was for WS, even though this is the RotR thread. I need to practice again for RotR - I had that down but not sure if it’s changed with the WS opening.
Same exact thing happened to me. Clicked in off DL tab right at 6:59:59 per tips on other threads, clicked Join Now and then it spun on “finding tickets” long enough to fail. Hope it doesn’t do this when I try for real next week …

I am starting to think the spinning is longer than normal because the system cannot automatically select the ticket.

That’s crazy. I was trying WS and used tab method and for whatever reason, I couldn’t hit the join button correctly the first couple times I tried, but when I finally did, my tickets loaded right up and I was still able to get through to the no reservations screen. What a silly app. Lol

I’m hoping this is the case! They do load better at the noon drop, so I’m hoping even if I can’t do morning, I may have some success there. I’ll be interested to see if it does it for RotR as well.

I tried the pull down method while practicing this morning (because at home my refresh rate’s really fast), and while I got to the join button immediately, I also had it spin for just a split second too long before I got to “select tickets,”and failed. 😭

Yeah, I was almost thinking I’d rather get one at the noon drop, especially if they continue the standby entrance to the land.

though I’ll still be trying at 7. Don’t want to miss an opportunity to get one

Haven't posted in a minute, but wanted to share my experience...

I went to Disneyland and DCA yesterday, and I used the methods described in the thread, and it paid off, big-time!

Details:
I logged onto the atomic clock on my computer (I use a MacBook, and I also activated the seconds in the menu-bar time display, which is pretty accurate, as it turns out).
I closed all apps on my phone (iPhone 8). And I restarted my phone for good measure.
I opened the Disneyland app at 6:58.
(I may have taken the optional step of repeating "I am one with the Force; the Force is with me." in my head at this point...)
Hit the blue Join Boarding Group button at 6:59:59.
Party was automatically selected/checked, and I just kept clicking through...
Got boarding group 26!
Window turned out to be 9:33–10:33, if memory serves. We were off by 10:30, which gave us just enough time to do Smuggler's Run before a Savi's appointment (I cannot recommend Savi's enough!).
Most importantly, the early BG allowed us to try for Web Slingers at noon...WHICH WE GOT! (BG 106)

Big thank you to everyone who has posted tips in this thread! And best of luck to those attempting to join VQ's in the future!!!

Does the Atomic clock app even matter? I have it open on my phone right now and it says the time on my phone is only 46ms behind. 46 thousandths of a second shouldn't make much difference.

Too funny- we were also there yesterday and got ROTR at 7am and WS at noon. But funny part is both our BGs were exactly two numbers ahead of yours (ROTR 24 and WS 104). Weird! Hope you enjoyed both rides as much as we did!

Wow, WS must really be taking pressure off ROTR because I just practiced at home on cell data and was able to click the blue join button two separate times and get through to the “are you here?” message twice. I was able to click join a 3rd time but then got the message groups were full. This was using pull down method just watching the clock on my iPhone. Gives me some hope for when we’re there in a couple weeks (still worried about WS though!)

This happened to me this morning as well trying with cell data.

I WAS successful at 12pm with cell data. Still have yet to be successful with a 7am practice using cellular.

Same thing here with cell data. Great news.

How many times did you repeat it? Did you say it audibly? How loudly? Was it all in English? If audibly, were you also saying it in your head? How were you feeling when you said it? Did you start saying it right at 7 or did you start the second before?

I finally got to “is your party here” page at the noon drop today while practicing. So far I’ve failed at the 7 am drop. I’m wondering if it was better because I was on data this time? I used the method of clicking from the app home page. I was watching the atomic clock till 5 seconds left, switched back to the app, and clicked “Join boarding group” at my count of 59:59.

Now, if I can recreate this at 7 am I’ll feel good!

Um, I may or may not have ordered a new iPhone 12 on the pretext of my 2 year old phone needing an upgrade… in hopes that the 5G helps… no, I really was thinking about a new phone anyway, so happy coincidence? 😂

A couple of curiosity questions:
1) Does anyone know how many are in a boarding group? Is it the number of people they can put into the first "scene" of the ride all at once? So, those people go through the experience as a group.
2) Which is more critical for speed, the download speed or the upload speed? I would guess the download speed since its downloading all the data for the page it is going to display. But the upload only transmits that you pushed the button.

We were in DisneyWorld last week of May, successful each of our 3 days in Hollywood Studios. I got it from our offsite rooms and I had speed tested both the hotel WiFi and my Verizon cell service. Verizon gave me over 20 M download but about 1.5 upload. The Wifi gave me 9 M both up and down. I was successful either way.

I'm seeing on the app that Indiana Jones is also by boarding group only. Seems like its going to be an issue of which one you want to try for. Particularly if you don't have several days to try. Maybe IJ groups will last much longer than the other 2.
Can you hold both at the same time?

Indy doesn’t open until after the park opens and the queue is overflowing. Typically about 30-60 minutes after official park opening. You have to be in the park to get Indy. It also is separate from rotr so you can have both. Also, the ride usually switched back to standby around 6pm with a 25-45 min wait.

Not sure when your trip is, but there’s a good chance Indy will not need boarding groups after 6/15 when the social distancing requirements are lifted.

It’s unknown how many are in a group. Pre covid the speculation was somewhere between 100-120 people per group.
