ripsaw???

ok...does anyone knoe if they are refurbishing ripsaw or getting rid of it???

my boyfriend went to IOA in july on 03...and he was just with me on my last trip in feb 04

his previous map includes ripsaw....but the newer ones do not....

are they getting rid of it??

They are adjusting the drop, not getting rid of it.

To add to the answer, it seems that when a ride is down for refurbishment, Universal takes it (the name, the description, not the picture) off the guide map while the attraction is closed.

They're doing something to it that will improve safety, yet will also increase the intensity slightly, or so I've heard...

After they find your son's hat then maybe they can try to find my sister's hat that flew off during the drop on the Jurassic Park River ride. When we got to the bottem of the hill she said that her hat flew off and I told her that it might still be in the boat, so she turned and asked the people seated in back of us. The man said, "so that is what hit me in the eye going down the hill". Sure enough, we went and looked at the ride picture and my sister's hat was in his face. I'm glad the man was ok and not sue happy! I laughed so hard when I saw that picture and I wish now that I had of bought the picture.

DM, do you think that they will lower the height restriction? It's currently 44" and my 4yo keeps talking about how he's going to ride Ripsaw next month when we're there. Problem is, he was only 42" when we were there last month and I know he hasn't grown much if any. I thought that maybe if they were somehow changing the drops that the restriction might change.

Thanks DM, I'll tell Jake that it's 44" and if it's changed or he's really grown (doubtful) then he'll be surprised.

He was finally able to ride the Popeye ride when we were there last month and he loved it. So much that even though he was shivering during his first ride, he insisted on riding 7 times in a row. I was freezing, even though it was a nice day.

It looks like they are going from Dual Drops to Single and changing angle.
I don't know why, but for some reason the single flume split into right side/left side for the final drop. Probably for safety.
I had also heard of complaints of injury due to the angle of the final drop(including myself, as rider in front of me split my lip with the back of their head and even worse from others).

LOL Tigger! It's amazing how many hats, flipflops, etc. can be seen swirling around in the water at the end of those rides! We went to lost and found after a few days to see about the hat and there was a woman in there looking for one shoe. The guy brought out a single shoe from the day.......wasn't the right one! I love that your sister's loss was captured on film!

I sure hope they do have it up and running in August/Sept. I've gone to IOA for the past 5 years and this is the one ride I have not been able to ride because everytime I've gotten on line its broken down!! Every single time!! I was beginning to think I was a jink or something LOL!! Hope I get to ride it this summer.

Dudley should be up either later this week or next week, so you should have no problems with it not being open during your next visit, unless it breaks down while you're in line

It's ok, it aways seems to break down when we are ON the ride. lol

The track is still two drop areas not just one. It looks decieving without the water running.

DD and I's favourite but DH hates it! Went last month and even tho it was chilly, we headed straight towards, leaving DH with bags, cameras, hats, etc. Was SO disappointed it was closed. Oh well, we have to go back in August coz we need out fix!

I'm so glad that we are going the end of May when it is hot. I love to ride ripsaw and Popeye when it is so warm outside. Not to mention MUMMY! I wonder if there will be FOTL restrictions on Revenge of the Mummy.
