Rip, Ride, Rockit!

Glad i read the previous posts. I rode it once yesterday and it was as rough as an old "woodie". it was hard to enjoy the ride with your head banging around through most all the ride.

I was very disappointed, but reading the other posts means i will have to keep riding to find a smooth car and see how it feels. :cool2:

That was exactly what my son said after his first ride. He was very angry about it. Other boards have been comparing it to Son of Beast. Not a good comparison.

When we watched my son's onride video you could see grimaces of pain. From someone who absolutely is fanatical about roller coasters and actually likes wooden coasters, that was not a good start.

The roughness was something new that I only experienced as of Friday.

I rode it numerous times before then and it was fun everytime.

So something needs tweaked with one or more trains on the track.

I can tell you it was rough enough to ruin the fun for me, I haven't been back since then.

Be sure to fill out a comment card about it if the ride is so rough that you can't enjoy it. Might get them to fix it.

Holy cow! I thought I was going to die on Son of Beast.:headache:

Son of Beast wow lets hope it gets torn out sooner then SOB was/will be lol.

I know as far as roughness goes, I'm not a fan of Gwazi, and this ride (HR3) leaves me wanting to marathon Gwazi just for a smoother ride.

Tear Rockit down, it Sucks!!!!
Get over it universal fanboys you are worse then the cedar point fanboys lol.

Rockit has no hope of ever being a good ride. They went with a company with no tall coaster exp. and one that got their start on RCT3, for the record I think a two year old could design better.

Sorry for the ranting, just tired of hearing people give it credit where credit is not deserved.

Well, at least its restraints aren't flying open. Sounds to me like experiences on this coaster are being given first hand. You can't discredit those unlike some rumours that were spread on this board without any first hand knowledge. Some people have had great experiences on Rockit and others have not. All accounts are being reported here honestly. I don't think you can bash them, no matter where you are employed.

This is something very important. I hope the engineers are on this, especially if there is an actual problem. If it went from smooth to Son of Beast style feel like you just got out of a paint can shaker and then went for 10 rounds with Mike Tyson, this is not good.

Steel coasters should be very smooth. I've actually never even ridden a steel that was not smooth. It may have been G-forcy and you got your head shaked due to tight turns or something, but never seen a steel that wasn't fairly smooth and always smoother than wooden coasters. They need to get on this and make sure its fixed and smooth. I will only ride it once if its not a smooth ride.

I don't think it went from smooth to rough. Some cars are smooth and others are rough. We rode it the same day experiencing both smooth and rough rides.

I do agree that the rough cars need to be fixed but I don't believe it is something that actually changed on the ride itself or that the ride needs to be torn down.

On my last ride, sitting in row 5, I sat beside a young boy that was about 11 years old. At the end of the ride he was so excited and said, "That's the best ride I've ever ridden!!!" So it can't be all that bad!!!

There are Universal fanboys? Had no idea.

As for no tall coaster experience I believe it was one of the reasons for chosing them as they fit rides in tight spaces which Universal needed.

I have yet to ride it so I can't rly defend the ride roughness but srsly? Some ppl think cucumbers taste better pickled. Your thoughts are not the same as others, Universal spent millions putting this up and they won't tear it down in its first month of opening.

Why would anyone want them to? If you don't like it don't ride it. They don't make you ride all the rides as you enter park.

You hit the nail right on the head cause you don't like a ride they should tear it down ??
Get a clue and just don't ride it and move on cause I think the hulk is a rough ride but none the less I love it and still ride it but thats me :thumbsup2

Which are the smooth seats? Definitely will remember and avoid the rough ones, that's kinda weird. Never heard of one set of seats being that much more rougher than others on a single coaster.:confused3

From what I read, it's just some cars are smoother than others. Something that hopefully can be fine-tuned.
Will wait till next months' trip to fall in (shorter?) line. Lookin' forward to it, rough or smooth.

Really think this coaster adds a nice touch to Studios too. Takes some crowd from other areas; good transition ride for pre-teen/Unicorn grads; cool backdrop during a concert; and it's got music!
We got something during a time when Potter is the primary focus too.

It is not smooth seats and rough seats, it is smooth cars and rough cars. There are 6 seats in each car, and two cars to each train. The entire front car or back car will be rough in a train.

Wow, it really is a hassle to get on this ride, but I finally got a chance to ride (look ma, no new thread!)

On Sun. 8/30, I got on after a 40 min. singer rider line wait (regular line had a posted 90-120 min wait.

On 8/31, I was disappointed at seeing that the coaster would not open until 11am (along w/ Jaws and ET/Kidzone) causing a huge and unnecessary line around the Concert area. I thought the whole thing was a mess and easily avoidable. I stayed with the line until we got to the front of the queue entrance and then hopped into singles leaving me a 5-10 minute wait.

Was it worth it? While not an amazing coaster, it is a very fun and solid ride. The soundtrack adds a lot too. On my second ride, I got the front seat and experienced a very smooth ride (the day before the ride was slightly bumpy, but I would not call it rough, I've been on many rougher coasters). Also, on that day, I listened to Rainbow Connection (#902) which works surprisingly well on the coaster. It was actually a very amazing and peaceful experience listening to that particular song on the ride.

While not the greatest coaster ever built, it is a solid addition to the park, I just wish there weren't so many hurdles to jump in order to ride it. Hopefully as it is open longer, it becomes easier to ride.

Sad to hear about the bumpy rides. We haven't experienced one in many rides so far, but we've been on a Disney cruise for a few days so we haven't ridden it lately. Hulk is too rough for me...a real head banger. That's why I love Rockit (gotta be row 6), because I can ride it without a whanging headache and aching ears. It will be interesting to see how my next ride goes when we get home. We had a wheel-tossing coaster at Six Flags Great America when I lived in Chicago (Shockwave), and you could always tell when one of those trains was having issues. Sounds like Rockit might be the same way.

We were at Universal 2 days last week and the ride was not operational on either day. We did not intend to ride it due to health conditions, but I would have been really mad if I had paid park admission only to find the ride closed if I were a roller coaster fan. :cool2:

Rockit has been opening late and sometimes shutting down. I think Monday last week was the only day it spent a long time being down. It did open later on in the day though. Wed. it didn't run really well but it was open. It also will shut down when there is lightning within 5 miles.

Since Aug. 27, it has been running quite well with wait times getting shorter and more trains running.

Here's a question for those of you who have ridden the HR3:

With all the talk about rows, do you get to pick your row like on DD or are you assigned a row like on Hulk?

From what I saw in the single's line, they let you choose depending on what is still open. You are all lined up right to the train. They ask how many in your party and then let you go. You fill up whatever space is still empty. they only line up individial rows for one train at a time (except there is a separate line for the front row).
