Rip, Ride, Rockit!

They have a month to get ALL the bugs out of it or I will... um... er.... I will be very sad :sad1:

I am headed up next weekend.. and still cannot go on it due to my arm :sad2: Oh well.. maybe my DD will get to go on it... if she has someone to ride it with her. She will be too chicken to go it alone. We are meeting my sister & her DD.. neither of them will do it...I will have to see if I can get my sister's other DD to come.. she will do it...:wizard:

It was running quite well yesterday and today. We rode it three times. The first day, Wednesday, we waited in line for 3 hours and never got to ride. Didn't do that again. We used single riders after that. You get very different rides depending on what train you get. Some are quite shakey and some are very smooth. I quite enjoyed it but wouldn't wait more than a half an hour for it. By today they were running 4 trains at a time and the line was moving quite nicely.

what kind of genres are avaliable?
Club/Electronica
Pop/Disco
Classic Rock/Metal
Rap/Hiphop
Country
Yeah..it's not bad for those of us who live in the area but I would be upset too if I had to travel a long way and it broke down. Like I stated earlier in this thread I believe...I think Universal jumped the gun on opening the HR3 so soon after technical rehearsals...there still too many bugs left to work out. IMHO...it's just not ready to open right now....but that's me. :rolleyes1
I agree completely.

If something is down that much, it shouldn't be advertised so heavily.

We are here at HRH now, and got to ride Rockit twice so far!!
The first day (Mon) it was closed all day and when it opened at 5:30 PM we got on line about 5:55 PM (by the time we realized it was opened) and had to wait 2 hours, but we were excited about riding it and figured that was a typical wait and would be the only way we would get to ride. Only at the end of our 2 hour wait, did they start opening up single riders. Then on Wed, as soon as we got the park at 10:30 it was just opening and we got on line and there was only a 60 minute wait, which seemed alot better than 2 hours. Well, the 60 min wait turned into a 2 hour wait, after multiple shutdowns for technical difficulties, and they had to change trains because the audio wasn't working on one of them. We wanted to go on single riders in the beginning, but the TM said it wouldn't be open until much later in the day. We saw that it did indeed open right away while we were in line, and we were thinking of switching to that line, but than in a matter of minutes they shut it down again. It seems like you have to be lucky enought to catch the single riders line at the right moment. We didn't want to wait for it to open and chance that it may not open and waste all that time standing there for nothing. The ride is great; we really enjoyed it, but there are too many technical difficulties and shutdowns and the wait is too long. We would like to go on again before we leave Mon., but only if we can somehow get on single riders, or catch it when it first opens and the wait isn't so long, because it is not worth wasting 2 hours in line for it.

We waited for single riders three times. The longest we waited was half an hour. They reopen it when the line empties out. Much, much shorter than waiting in the regular line.

What you do is wait outside the ride entrance until the attendant receives the word to open and then up you go. There are so many parties with odd numbered riders that the single line moves very quickly.

However, they close the single riders line once it gets too long inside. Then you just wait for it to reopen again. It is much nicer waiting at the entrance to the ride than standing in line.

The only problem with single riders is that you don't get to pick your seat. On most coasters that doesn't matter much, but for me it makes or breaks the Rockit. It is literally a different coaster in row 6. I've done single riders a few times to force myself to try other rows, and it's such a yawner anywhere but six. It's like Gemini at Cedar Point, which is also a snoozer unless you ride row 3 on the red side...then you're on a bucking bronco.

DH and I did have one major luckout in single riders tho'. They had filled half a train from the regular line, and the next party was a party of eight. They just filled the rest of that train from singles...and DH and I ended up next to each other in row 6! Pure bliss.

Oh, and I saw someone asking about BTTF a little earlier in the thread. Sorry, that one is just urban legend.

I found row 5 to be just as good as row 6. However, the time I rode in row 5, the car was an exceptionally smooth one.

My son rode the first time in row 3 and said he was one of the worst coasters he's ever ridden (and he's ridden 240 different coasters!). It was rough and just plain painful. He was totally disgusted.

Then he rode in row 6 and said it was much better. Then he rode in the front row in a very smooth car and really enjoyed it. Still not one of his favourite coasters, but much better than his first impression.

We'll be back again in February. Hopefully by then all of the cars will be running smooth and the entire ride will be running smoothly.

I haven't been in row 5 yet. Row 4 was blech, so it will be interesting to compare 5 and 6. I was very underwhelmed by row 1 (we did it the first time we rode, strictly for the view). The one element I dear love on RRR is the loop because you get float time that reminds me of the Mangnum (Cedar Point) bowtie. Magnum is my favorite coaster because it combines float with air. If I could combine SheiKra (best air ever if you know how to ride the two big hills) and either the Magnum bowtie or RRR loop, I'd have the perfect coaster for me.

I hate Magnum with a passion because of the pain involved. I wouldn't even ride it when we went last year. Apparently it is having some work done on the cars this year so I'll give it another try next year if it turns out that they have changed their restraint system. There weren't even any lines for it last year.

Apollo's Chariot has excellent float time and it is pain free. I'd ride that all day.

I found with Rockit that keeping the restraint a little bit loose really improved on the airtime as well.

I haven't been on Magnum since we moved to FL, but I've heard it's gotten rough in its old age. I remember once when we still lived in IL they did something to the bowtie that destroyed the float time, but then they fixed that and brought it back. I wonder if it's still the same now. Those bunny hills were always a killer, even when it was running smoothly.

Thankfully I haven't ended up in one of the Rockit's rough cars yet. I only feel roughness in the very last part. I've learned to keep the restraint a little loose, although it's not as good for airtime as over-the-shoulders. When the team members are feeling lenient on SheiKra and let me keep it the way I want, my shoulders literally slam into it as my butt rises all the way off the seat.

I do have to say that Timber Wolf at Worlds of Fun used to be the best airtime coaster ever though. I say "used to" as I haven't been there in years, and in the meantime some Darwin Award nominee thought it would be smart to change seats while the coaster was in motion. Although she obviously belonged out of the gene pool, I suspect that her death led to more severe restraints.

I have ridden in rows 3, 5, and 2. I liked row 2 the best, because it was the the smoothest. Row 3 and 5 were bumpy, but I can't remember which was worst. Yesterday, I finally got to go in single riders, and the wait was about 35 min., as opposed to 2 hour wait in regular line.

I don't think it is the rows that are bumpy but the actual car. So you most likely had a smooth car when you rode in row 2. There is no reasonable explanation that would have one row bumpy and the next smooth. Hopefully they will smoothen out all the cars soon.

I wonder if they're having problems with the wheels. That would explain the bumpiness too.

I'm sure that has something to do with it. You can actually hear the roughness of some trains as they go past. I remember them saying they have different wheels for different temperatures.

Sitting in the rows not over the wheels doesn't seem to help, though, in the bumpy cars. My son's first ride was in row 2 when he whined that it was one of the worst coasters ever. The bumps seem to penetrate the entire car.

However, when you get a smooth car, it is a very nice ride. I wish there were numbers or something on the cars so we could identify the culprits.

On the other hand, looks like Rockit has been running well the past few days...opening with the park and running 4 trains. Definitely a HUGE improvement over last week!!!

I have a question..... I had read somewhere that this was the first ride of its kind that actually allowed guests to ride it that don't buy tix for US/IOA..... is there some kind of entrance outside of the park that you can purchase a ride ticket separate from park admission? I would find this hard to believe but great news bc I would love to ride it but don't care to spend the money for the parks....

There has been speculation about that, but nothing more. To ride the Rockit, you must have a park ticket.

It was rumoured but I believe it was also said that the separate ride entrance would only occur if the parks were closed. So you couldn't ride it during the day with only a ride ticket.
