Rip, Ride, Rockit!

When it is finally open the park will be so busy! We're there for two weeks from 18th September and i really hope it's open by then. But i do hope that it won't make all the rides stupid busy at a time we're hoping the crowds won't be too big. Especially as the parks are only open until 6pm then!
I think the crowds for the HR3 will make the other lines seem almost nonexistant but September isn't usually busy anyway. You should be OK.

Although I know the problems they are having i can't say them bluntly. but I will say they are having "structure issues" with the supports and every train of the six universal has in their possession has it own unique list of problems, from music issues to harnesses suddenly popping open. They just endurance tested it last week and florida safety would not certify them to run. They have about 4 pages of problems that must be fixed first.

After reading this all I can say is "Universal, take all the time you need".

not a problem for me if the music screws up on the ride.

harness popping open, yes, a problem.........

like the prior poster above said, "universal, take your time.........take all the time you need......"

After hearing about these problems(structure, harnesses) I don't think I want to ride it for a good while after it opens.Universal why oh why didn't you get B&M to build you this coaster?

I think that's going to be the next problem...public perception and it's going to be a tough problem for Universal to deal with...especially for locals and passholders. I know people will still be wanting to ride it but like you said...I think more and more people are going to wait until it's broken in before they try it out. With all the delays and problems, I think the ride's reputation will suffer before it's given a chance to redeem itself.

B & M had too many projects for this year, and a couple other issues listed below.

1. They had a contract with SW orlando that Manta would be the only coaster they would build in Central FL this yr. (smart on SW's part in my opinion)

2. Let us all remember when universal last bought a B&M for these parks. They kind of back stabbed B & M and got someone else to program and install the launch system on Hulk. Not that B&M was gonna do it for them but Universal had already paid for the track so B&M was forced to build it whether they liked it or not.

3. The last reason from B&M's standpoint is simple, they dont do vertical lifts and thats what universal wanted.

Another side issue is universal really did chose this company Mauer Sohne because they were 3.5 million cheaper then another ride company called Gerstlauer known for building mystery mine at dollywood. They did offer to do the job but again it wasnt exactly what universal wanted.

So instead here we are with an unsafe steel tower of nothiness from a company that got their start on a game called "roller coaster tycoon 2"

This is my worst fear riding any coaster. I always thought I was neurotic but to think it really can happen... :faint:

Sheesh, going in December and I'm starting to wonder if it will be online by then!!

We will be there at the end of the week and had planned this trip around being able to go on the new RRR. We figured it would be open for July originally and Aug would be a sure thing for it to be open. Such a shame it wont be open. Obviously safety comes first !!!

We were there yesterday and there were lots of cranes up and people walking the tracks. Things aren't looking good.

We were at SeaWorld yesterday doing a Manta marathon with Quick Queue and were wearing our Rip Ride Rockit t-shirts. Lots of the TMs asked if it was running, and some shared info. they had heard. Coasterj, not sure if one of them was you but we did hear similar things from some we spoke with. My Hope Meter plunges further and further each day.

One good thing about most B & M coasters (Manta excluded because of its wacky restraint system): you don't have to worry about the harness popping open because they have the good old-fashioned seatbelt thingie as a failsafe to hold it down.

Amazingly, Manta was running smooth as butter yesterday. We rode it 20 times with Quick Queue and didn't even get there at opening, plus took an hour dinner break. We did leave before park close because it was starting to run a little flaky...not going all the way up into the position the first time, stopping on its way to the hill or out of the brake run, etc. Minor things, but my Manta obsessed hubby who rides it several evenings a week said that usually means it's going to start misbehaving worse and slow things down signficiantly.

Is the quick que on Manta like a single rider line at WDW?

Its an express line but you have to pay $20 to use it, covers 4 rides and the sky tower thing for unlimited use.

There is (or was...not sure if they still have it) a single rider line on Manta, but it was worthless. You had to wait through most of the standby line vs. it being a separate line like Test Track or Expedition Everest at Disney.

Quick Queue is a totally separate line like Fastpass. I did a full report on our experience here: http://bit.ly/Gge68

It is sooooooo well worth the money!
