How intense is this ride? Lots of drops, upside down stuff, or is it just fast???

I have heard it is fun.. and very cool.. but it is no Hulk.. I can't wait to find out for myself next month!

I gave it a 4 out of 10. Other than the vertical lift hill and the uphill twist after the drop, RRR does not cover any new ground. Even the music really doesn't add much (and I found the song selections to be very limited).

Depending on your car, it may be rough, it may be smooth. It will be average.

After the first 30 seconds, I found it to be a rather uninteresting. so, after wasting 60 minutes for one ride, I went over to DD and rode them 5 times (in only 35 minutes or so) and each ride was far, far better. The Hulk is also better, but I remain a big fan of DD.

From my ride experience, I think it is a family coaster. The vertical lift is probably the scariest part.

I dunno, I am going to Universal for the first time next month and this ride seems scarier to me than the two at IOA just based on the height. What is a family coaster anyway?

To me a family coaster is one that everyone is able to ride. No big drops, no inversions, nothing too scary. Like Big Thunder Mountain, other than being shaky, there really is nothing much to it.

It does have a big drop though, right?

The drop isn't really that big. It all depends on your definition of a big drop. The angle of descent isn't nearly as sharp as many newer coasters making it rather forceless.

As an alternate perspective...

It is a big drop. If you don't like the stomach dropping sensation (I don't), it still is present. Now, if you are fine on other comparably dropped coasters (like say Dueling Dragons first drop), you will be fine. It is a little longer. I don't see the coaster as THAT family friendly - I have seen families walk away after looking at it, haha.

The coaster can also be very shaky - similar to a wooden roller coaster.

I have spoken to all different people, including ride developers and many feel it is a physically demanding coaster. I bruise easily and did have bruises after riding it.

Now, is it for the faint of heart? Sure. The vertical lift is actually very disorienting... I get weirded out by heights, but it was fun, and to just come up straight and go immediately down is interesting.

I think it is worse than it looks. I don't post often and I know a lot about this ride. It will get smoother over time. I say do it if you are fine with Hulk and Dueling Dragons. It's definitely intense, just not in the direction most "intense" coasters have going (like dive coasters or hyper coasters, etc).

I liked it. A lot of people put it down, but it's actually a very interesting coaster.

Rockit is not as intense as the Hulk or DD. I rate Rockit as 4/5 on intensity; Hulk & DD get 5/5, ROTM gets 3/5. The vertical lift is a bit surprising, but is quick and you're over it before you know it. After the first drop and the Double Take (non inverting loop) the rest is pretty tame, but very fun.

Last time I was at Universal, we rode the Hulk and DD and although I was scared to death to get on them, the actual ride was very enjoyable. I loved The Hulk because it was exceptionally smooth and it had over the chest restraint which made me feel very safe. DD aslo had over the head and chest restraint.

My biggest scare on the coasters is going downhill and not having a restraint over my whole body. I'm a pretty small girl and I always feel like I feel just fall out of my seat while flying downhill:)
So looking at the seats on HRRR and seeing how it only holds you by the waist, I am scared to death to go on it.

Also, what does a moving platform really mean in this situation. You have to jump into your seat while the cars move in front of you?:)

The platform is also moving, so you don't really notice it. It is the same on Forbidden Journey and Haunted Mansion.

Really?:) I have no idea what that even looks like.
I'm sure I'm going to be one of those idiots that get totally confsed and hold up the crowd:)

To answer the OP, yes this coaster was designed specifically for the faint of heart. Anyone with serious heart issues, they put you right on and off you go.

I heard this ride is shut down for some time - True?

Is it up and running now?

It wasn't running this past weekend. The rumors are all over the place for when it will reopen. Nobody really seems to know.

It was down when we were there on Oct.1st. Someone in the crowd said it was working half a day the day before, but it was shut down the entire day we were there.

Don't hold your breath. We're at Uni several days every week now for HHN and they don't even seem to be working on anything in the HRRR vicinity.
