Probably but like Damo stated it's not even finished yet so March 17th is completely out of the question.

Where did you hear it was opening in March?

The staff hasn't even been picked for the ride. May 17 is more probably than March 17. ;)

and btw, that video is an unofficial re-creation of the ride

Even May 17 is pushing it,it's going to be like mid to late summer,at least.

I think I saw that Seaworlds Manta is May 17th and if thats true I sure Universal will be pushing for around that time or definally in early June. They are saying openning late spring 2009, that would be May since its the last month in spring:confused3 .:thumbsup2

I would imagine they want it open for the summer crowds.

Manta is supposed to open Memorial Day weekend...passholders are able to ride it the weekend before.

Not quite. June = last month of Spring. Summer starts June 20/21(depends on the year). Spring has not yet started and it's March. Spring starts March 20/21.

Yay, wacky calendar makers!

I sense the necessity of buying a SeaWorld pass..... (DH has already been pushing for one.)

We will be there June 14 thru the 19th, I hope it will be open by then!

I'm not so sure I will ride it, but my hubby and my sister are serious roller coaster freaks and they are dying to ride it. We won't be back to FL again for years either! :sad2: We only go to FL once every four or five years, the other years we try to do national parks.

I would bet money it would be finished by early June. USO is banking on this ride to boost the attendance figures this season. Especially in this crappy economy. I also think at the rate the construction is moving that by my vacation in early May they will have a majority of the ride completed. It might not be running during my vacation period, but I would bet that the track will be done and the ride building be damn near finished. Probably a lot of the landscaping in certain areas as well.

This construction crew is moving at a pretty fast clip and I look for updates every day. It's amazing to me how much has been done so far. I guess I'm used to the usual, slow pace of the construction crews in my area.

I hear ya! I can't believe how far they've come since we were there in mid January!
