I got my original Keurig Platiunum brewer when I started nursing school several years ago. I have worked this poor machine to the bones for over 6 YEARS. I drink a lot of coffee, I use it a lot. It breaks every few months or so, I call the hotline, they talk me through all of the repairs and I fix it. It works for a few months and then it starts making short cups, the pump breaks etc etc. I would now consider myself a "Master Keurig Mechanic". Well this time, I cannot fix it. I am in denial and having separation anxiety. I purchased a new one and plugged it in, it is all shiny and new. But it is a stranger. I can't seem to part with this old workhorse. I don't want to throw it away. I keep thinking if I just try harder, I can fix it. I don't want to accept that I cannot fix it THIS time. I may need therapy. RIP my favorite coffee machine ever! We have been through good times and bad, and I hope your replacement will be as loyal as you were.

More importantly did you go with the NEW type of Keurig aka "the vue" or are did you go with the original for a new one?

I am going to buy my parents one for Christmas. ;)

My Keurig has had no issues so far, going on 2yrs. I ONLY use distilled water in the machine.

I have hard water and cannot use my tap water.

I am on my third Keurig. I love them but they keep breaking on me :( I need to get a 4th one because this one is broken now too.

I am on my second one. I worked my first one to death. Life wouldn't be the same without my Keurig. I love it and use it every day.

I got the same model, the Platinum. It looks a little sleeker and holds more water, but same model I had before. I don't want to get the vue yet because the cups for it are harder to come by. I use primarily dunks k cups.

Our Keurig is 7 years old and still kicking! I'm sorry for your loss but glad to hear you replaced it already...one coffee maker every 6-8 years isn't too bad when they get so much use!

We love our Keurig and have bought them for each of our kids. They love theirs too!

I was really disappointed when our Keurig broke (apparently, you're supposed to descale it occasionally? ;)), but then I got a TURQUOISE one and fell in love. It's just the small, one cup one. DH uses it Monday through Friday before work (I use it in a pinch); I use our small Farberware percolator (which I much prefer), and on weekends we use the large percolator. But I love how the new Keurig looks.

Did I mention it's TURQUOISE?!

{{hugs}} It's time to let your Kuerig cross the rainbow bridge. It will be waiting for you on the other side with K-cups you can't even imagine now. :grouphug:

I've had mine for about 7 years too. I only make coffee with it and I use bottled water. I only drink two cups a day, so I guess my machine hasn't had the workout that others get. I also wonder if after the initial success of the machines that they might have started to cut some corners on the quality of the mechanism. :confused3

We started having the "not full cups" problem and when nothing worked, Costco told us return it even though it was at least 4 years old. I don't know what I'd do without mine!

Keurig is really good about sending a replacement for free. Call them.
My last one was off warranty but I called them anyway and they sent me a new one for half off. :thumbsup2 Then when I registered the new one I got an offer to buy two 24ct boxes of coffee and get 2 free.

i think our is that old too and still fine. we did purchase a new water reservior from http://www.keurig.com/shop/gifts-an..._medium=pdsch&utm_term=QU&utm_campaign=503335as ours got dropped and cracked, but otherwise no problems

I knew exactly which coffeee pot you meant before I even watched the commercial. :) My mom had one of those! And yes, perked is best! Our Keurig is strictly for convenience. Like when the innards of our Farberware pot is in the dishwasher, unwashed, in the morning. Keurig to the rescue, or I'd have to wash the Farberware pot parts by hand. :scared: ;)

I just won a Keurig Platinum at bingo. Never in a million years did I think I'd actually win! Haven't set it up yet since I have to make room for it on very limited counter space. Gee the box is enormous!! :scared:

Typical nurse "no patient dies on my shift even if I have to do CPR for 12 hrs". :rotfl2: Step away from the machine, let it go to the great coffee room in the sky.

Keurig asked up to go buy a proctor silex. :lmao: DH killed 7 Keurig's in a 2 year time span. I think he could just look at it wrong and the darn thing would break.

On the other hand we have one in the breakroom at work that we have had and use to death for 3 years and it is still going strong.

Just a heads up-
Don't use Grove Corners coffee- I think that's the name. There's a minute difference in size but Keurigs do not like those k cups. I went through 3 in one month thinking Keirig had gone down in quality.
Once I switched back, the machine worked fine.
