RIP Dan Wheldon

Today we lost a great champion, great race driver, friend to all in the sport and great family man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the IndyCar community. Dan, thank you for the memories and your kindness, RIP.

That was a terrible wreck! I feel so bad for his wife and children.

He was one of the good guys! When he won the Championship at our track in 2005, they had flown his father in from England. He had never seen Dan race in America. I had the pleasure of having a long conversation with Mr. Wheldon. Very nice family. When he won his first Indy 500, Danica received the majority of the publicity. The next week at Milwaukee, he wore a tee shirt that read, "I actually won the Indy 500". He was always smiling and always treated everyone with respect. He will be missed. There were a lot of tears in our house today.

Have had a busy, busy few days working/attending our County Fair, so first saw this news story on FOX this morning. Awful accident and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and his fans.

Dan was a great driver and seemed like a good person, he will be missed both on the track and off.
