Bob Newhart, whose stammering, deadpan unflappability carried him to stardom as a standup comedian and later in television and movies, has died, according to a statement from his longtime publicist Jerry Digney. He was 94.

I enjoyed his shows very much.

Loved his sense of humor; so self deprecating, a tad dark and subversive. Takes a special mind to name three brothers Darrel even if 2/3s took affront at the spelling.

He and his shows made TV worth watching back then and we can only pray we will see his like again.

Thank you for the good times, Mr. Newhart.

I so remember listening many times to his Button-Down Mind Of Bob Newhart and The Button-Down Mind Strikes Back comedy albums he released in 1960. Very high charting albums on Billboard back then. I was 16 then and I and my buddies thought the monologues were hilarious. We listened to them and re-listened to them often. They still stand the test of time today. I really never watched his TV shows, snippets here and there, not much of a TV series viewer here. He did his home town of Chicago well. RIP, Mr. Newhart. Thank you for your life's work.

One of his early comedic routines, Abe Lincoln vs Madison Avenue. So classic Newhart, so funny.

My son, now a young adult, grew up listening to record albums while we ate dinner.
He LOVED those 2 albums!
He was sad to hear that Bob had died, and he remembers the albums (we still have them).
I think maybe I'll play them this weekend for DH, DS, and me in Bob's memory.

I don’t remember much about the Bob Newhart Show, but I loved Newhart and found it both smart and funny. In truth, I thought he passed a few years ago, so I was surprised to see the announcement. RIP Mr. Newhart.
